Me too. Couldn't the have done a relaxed hand pose that only closed when and if you decide to have your pet hold something. For that matter would have it been that much of a strain on tnt databases to have stored the old pet pose options for every one? Or kept it changeable back and forth like durrning the beta? I truely feel bad for every one whose pet colour was in a non standard pose now being squashed into the same pose and porportions as everyone else. No more upside down starry korbat even, let alone the other already mentoined redraws.
What I don't like in all the redraws is the simplifing of the drawing. My hissi (basic Blue) for example lost his light blue spots and his wings (what you can see in the "fists" pose)have lost their sharp edge. its probably one of the closest redraws but how hard would it have been to keep the light blue spots.*sarcasm alert* Why not go and take the dark blue ones too they must take oh thrity secounds for an artist to draw.

To the CSS guru... do you know the name of the bottom bar? In the Altador sidebar (Ha!) it's green and ugly and I had to block the picture so I could read it, and I'd like to turn it purple... or just another colour. Is there some code for that?

Thankyou for how to get rid of the ad bar by the way! I hate how in-your-face all the ads are on Neopets these days...

By the way, this keeps happening to me also (I remember someone else posting a similar image)

Did anyone figure out how to fix it? It happens almost every refresh. Sometimes it moves up even higher.

I wish I could smack Neopets. Im not even in the mood to play good old Snowmuncher anymore. I get in Neo ruts sometimes where I dont feel like doing anything productive, but its usually because of my own reasons. This time they forced me into the rut! I dont feel like doing anything on the site! Terrible!

Update: I still hate it. If it's possible, I hate it even more since I forgot to change my homepage to something other than Neopets.com, and it greated me as I opened my browser.

Anjuna, thank you for the decline link. The flat line drop in the last 24 hours is almost astounding. I say almost because not even I could have imagined there were that many other people who loathe the new layout as much as I do. I haven't even been on the site yet today and it's closing in on 11 pm here.

I just can't bring myself to endure the assault on my senses that the new layout is. It's too busy/chaotic/messy. And I can't stand drop down menus. I have problems with my hands and generally I avoid drop downs as I end up misclicking. The search at the bottom of the page still makes no sense to me. Actually, the whole thing makes no sense to me, and apparently not to alot of people. It actually physically hurts my eyes to visit the site, I ended up with a headache last night between all the stuff to look at/try to avoid looking at and trying to figure out where the heck everything was. Thank goodness for bookmarks!

I am using 1024 by 768 resolution, it's default on my monitor and I still have to right scroll. And I'm not changing the res for one site. It's absurd, selfish and completely thoughtless of TNT to have done this. There's nothing new, fresh, innovative or enticing about the site revamp. It's almost like people just threw all the little bits of other sites they liked together and we ended up with this mess. I can't imagine what a smaller monitor/resolution and/or dial-up must be like with the revamp.

And the pet redraws, oh how those make my blood boil. The raised fist is annoying but it's probably the *least* annoying thing of the redraws. Mainly because I at least have an idea of why they have a hand up (to hold ... something). I'm no artist myself so no, I couldn't have done better. But they are artists and I do expect better. Or at least give us the option of NOT customizing/reverting back to the "old" version. I know I have no intention of dressing my pets.

I know, I've been one to gripe about other things done to the site, was very vocal when the ads started and when they moved to the super banner ads I went crazy. There were and are ways around the ads - adblock, css, premium. But this? Just springing a whole new site on all of us with no warning and in the process taking away our lookups/shops/galleries/pet lookups and giving us something that it seems a majority definitely do not like.

Yes, they've made changes to the site before that made us change our graphics and coding. But to a point, not completely toss everything out the window and start over -- which at this point I don't really have the time, energy or patience to do. Who knows what they'll do or change next? And then all the work done now will have to be done again!

You know I'm really starting to think (or maybe its wishful thinking) that was... I think it was Rune.. said in the last thread, and that maybe this is a belated April Fools joke...? The sheer amount of freaked out people ranting and raving about the terrible new layout, just made me stop my own anger for a second and I had a bit of a double take, I was like "waaait, this reminds me of the mass hysteria that usually comes around every April 1st on Neo".

All I can say (apart from my awesomely long-winded rant in the last thread) is that this better be a joke, or TNT is going to start wishing it was.

EC, you said everything I would have said. And said it much better than I could. I am so sad. One of my bestest friends is quitting. He just can't take it. It gives him headaches. And gosh, I will miss him. Neopets won't be the same without him around. Other friends are finding other hobbies. One went out and got himself a computer game and joystick and has been loving that game ever since. Neopets messed up here big time. They are going to lose some of their best players. Those of us who were paying customers or played this game for years or devoted many hours a week to this game. And they are losing the teens and college kids to World of Warcraft. Because those kids are now saying that this site is just too babyish for them. Neopets used to be the only game on the block, but they need to get their heads out of the sand and realize that isn't the case anymore. Oh well, I will stop my rant. Let's just say I am horribly unhappy with this site right now--and this is coming from someone who lost 1 million to a glitch in January and was suspended in March (for an insanely stupid reason) and stayed anyway.

Everconfused, believe me, you don't want to know what's it's like to have dial-up and a smaller monitor/resolution with all these horrendous changes! It's taking me forever to load the new pages... :(

I've been playing on the site for over 5 years now, and I do believe it's time for me to move on to some other game site. Any suggestions anyone?

PS: The banner ads were bad enough, especially in light of how Adam and Donna (remember them??) kept promising us that we would never have banner ads. But this new "Neopets 2.0" is horrid. I detest it so much that I cannot even come up with the appropriate word for my feelings.

Sierra, I feel for you. I don't have dial up, but my computer is somewhat old and my monitor is small. So, pages are taking forever to load and when they do load, I have to scroll to see them. Whatever in the hell was Neo thinking in doing this? Didn't they do testing whatsoever? Not even on their employees? (though maybe they were scared to tell the truth for fear of losing their jobs).

The more I play on this layout, the more I hate it.

My latest complaint has to do with pet lookups. Before, I don't believe fishing scores or the number of completed jobs were listed if both numbers were 0. IMO, this looked a whole lot nicer. I only really fish with one pet, and she is also the only one I do jobs with. All my other pets look unloved and kinda cheap now because they don't work and obviously aren't the greastest fishermen.

They need to let us customize these things more..if I have to look at all this crap for much longer I will not be a happy camper.

I am taking the weekend off..maybe going outside and enjoy the beautiful weather or something equally radical. I hope some of this gets cleared up next week. Things are not looking good. :/

And funnily, I was >< this close to upgrading to premium. The credit card I was intending to use just came in the mail today in fact. Close call, huh?

Morningstar, I'm in the same boat you're in -- my computer is an older model, as well, with a 17-inch monitor. Not all of us are blessed with extra discretionary income or funds to spend on a new computer every couple of years.

Sure, I can increase my resolution to 1024x768, but it puts a serious strain on my graphics card and resources. So I rely on 800x600 dpi. As you know, it's awfully tedious to scroll sideways on every page. I wish TNT would at least move the new modules over to the right-hand side of the page instead of the left. Not only would I not have to scroll so much, I wouldn't have to keep staring at my poor, wimpy-looking, cutsey Spotted Zafara. I want my old pets back!!

The other thing that bothers me is the module showing what Neofriends are online. It's an invasion of personal privacy, IMHO.

I, too, miss the "old" days when Adam and Donna directly communicated with PPT members. It always gave us a sense that TNT cared about us. Since Viacom's buyout of the site, however, it feels like we really don't matter a hoot. :(

You know, I do like the look of the new layout. But, it doesn't make up for all of the horribly wrong changes that have been made to the site recently. The pet downvamps are just ugly. My beautiful Shadow Xweetok is now hard to even look at.

I've been spending less and less time on Neo lately and these new implementations with more unnecessary things yet to come, make me wanna me wanna quit altogether. It's like they don't even give a flip about the users (at least the long timers). I remember they use to poll us about changes and ask for feedback. It just feels like the site is being geared towards tweens and younger and they're ignoring us older users. My patience was wearing thin before, but I've about had it with the site.

I have been silent on this topic for what seems like too long.

I don't really care about the layout change. I don't hate it. I don't think it is the greatest. It is fine. It works for me. One website that I regularly visit looks different. That is nothing new to me.

My only complaint is that I have to go through Neopia Central to get at my items. Other than that, it is all fine and dandy. Edit: D'oh. Dumb me. I forgot that I can go through the Portal. Sorry. Not much of a complaint any more.

At least half a dozen websites that I regularly visit have a layout like Neopets'. Even more that I semi-regularly visit have a similar layout. Heck, Nintendo's US website has had a layout similar to Neopets' since before I joined PPT. All but two (now one) site(s) that I regularly visit change their layout every few months, so I guess this does not strike me too hard.

The funny thing is, I was discussing this very subject almost exactly a week ago with some of my teachers. They are ones that like WoW and other MMOs as well as other online games. I was the local Neopets expert of the group. One of the topics we discussed was players' reactions to changes to their beloved games. Not to sound mean but I find it quite interesting that this scenario played out almost exactly as we predicted.

To any anthropologists that may be listening: come here. Study us. Make another of our predictions come true.
