I don't know if anyone else has said this, but be sure to have a lot of hand gel. Most college people ( In the US and Abroad) don't wash their hands and some people just have bad grooming habits, which is why diseases seem to spread more readily on college campuses than in some other places. I'm not trying to imply that forein people are less sanitary, I really don't know. I'm just saying that some people in general are not very sanitary. We are all guilty of that, though! How many of us really wash our hands for like a full minute when we get done? And when is the water EVER hot? And when is there ever enough soap?

Well basically when you have a lot of people living together, it can happen. When those people are young adults who could care less about sanitation, it can only get worse.

I know, eh? That's what I was worried about.

I'm probably going to bring bottles of hand sanitizer and a big soap bottle, because I do not want to have disgusting germs all over me.

-shudders-

But thanks for the tip, I was only thinking about bringing huge soap bottles, but hand sanitizer's as well will make me even cleaner!

Dudes, paranoid, much?

You know what else makes 'diseases' (I think infections is better, I don't think college campuses are actually rife with disease) spread quickly? When people have rubbish immune systems because they've spent their lives being paranoid about germs/having their parents be paranoid about germs.

Which is why my friend Manda with her neurotic OCD clean freak mother gets ill loads and has a ton of allergies, while my brother who used to eat dirt (REMEMBER WHEN KIDS ATE DIRT?) isn't allergic to anything and gets ill around once a year.

In conclusion, quit mithering and eat some of your food off the floor.

:P :P :P

Well, some of you may know that I have applied for a Quebec Explore program which would allow me to go to a French city/town for five weeks and take a University French course which would count towards my GPA.

So, after a while of waiting, I've been accepted and I will be heading to l'Université De Quebec Á Trois-Rivieres for five weeks! Unfortunately, it's a town and well, no night life really but we are having weekly trips to Montréal and Quebec so I'm really looking forward to those.

=O

Holy man. My friend is doing the exact same program, going to the exact same town. This is wild! Oh Canada, you are small indeed. I hope you have a splendid time. As for what to bring, just logical things. I did Katimavik last year (which, by the way, has a group in Trois-Rivieres this year - a girl from my group is also from that town) so I had to bring much of the things you will. I'd suggest a few simple recipes for if you want to cook (my friend tells me that your weekday meals are provided for, but not your weekend).

You will be given an allowance for weekend food.

I'd bring a set of sheets too. Just to be safe.

Igg, I sound like a clean freak there but I'm not. It's just, I always imagine walking into a place full of like dirty clothes and a washroom with all mold and crust on it, so I was like "I need to gear up".

Heh, but thanks for the tip.

Whoa, that's pretty weird! But so cool!

So they do give you allowance for weekend, excellent. But I'm planning on making some food while I'm there. It should be exciting.

Really? I nearly did Katimavik but then I decided at the last minute that I didn't want to do it. Did you enjoy it? I know another girl in my highschool that was doing it, but she came home about 2 weeks later because she was homesick.

Forget the five second rule. Make it five minutes, I say.

Oh yes, it was rad. It's definitely not something for those who don't like leaving home. I wasn't bothered by it though; it's part of growing up! Man, it was wicked. The people you meet, the places you see. It's such a unique experience. It's also a cheap way of seeing the country.
