Your point being?

Just joking around, hence the winking smiley. In case I was being too obscure (which is not unlikely): swimming with crocs in Egypt-->in the Nile-->in denial. It seemed like a fitting friendly tease for our Lost Desert compatriots. :)

the words "under review" make me want to die a little bit. i secretly think that tnt is setting up the whole thing, so this "review" time is just for them to decide who they want to win. i mean, it's not like they actually have to hand count all the games, i'm sure it's automated.

They don't count the games played - there's (supposed to be) some complex algorithm that looks at the quality of the games played by each team, that way teams with fewer members can compete with teams that have bazillions of members.

Surely not so complex that a computer can't do it in a few seconds. It's not too complex anyway, it should just be a weighted average. The only reasons I can think of for human input being required are a) if they want to double-check the accuracy or make human judgement calls on what counts as a draw rather than a win / lose, or b) if the results are fixed. I really hope it's the first one. o_O I can't think of any reason they'd want to fix the Cup.

My guess would be that, despite some rather public opinions to the contrary, TNT is not so dumb as to fix the matches.

I, too, can't think of any reason why they'd want to fix the cup... and even if they did, it still wouldn't take hours to decide -- they would have decided who'd win each day ahead of time and would get results up quickly. Anyway, I know it really annoys the programmers when people accuse them of fixing the whole thing.

Crazy idea... Neopets was down for a while this morning and slowly came back up, but apparently only a few servers at a time. With a few refreshes, you could get a page up. Is it a coincidence that on that day, the standings are really late? Maybe they have one server that calculates the standings, and it simply needs to be switched on before the standings go up. And today it's affected by whatever is killing their servers. *shrug* I don't know... stab in the dark.

I hear you completely on that one. It's extremely difficult with the touchpad. I luckily have a wireless USB mouse for my laptop - but its still kinda tricky. The screen dimensions are very different than on my desktop.

Are you in the US? I bought a really nice wireless optical USB mouse at Big Lots for $10. It isn't the best of brands (GE) but not horrid. It survived being thrown across a room and smashing into a wall... :)

Really? I thought it was so much easier with a touchpad than with a regular mouse. It responds to just your hand that way, no need to go through anything else. (Normally I think trackballs are the best, but I think I may have finally found a use for the touchpad...)

Well, in addition to some people not having their scores updated, I just now noticed that I have exactly 70 more wins than I should. I've been keeping meticulous track of my wins, (Yes, I know. :P ) and 70 is the amount I play every day, which means that yesterday's scores somehow got doubled. TNT has a bigger problem on their hands than I thought........... If I were them, I'd try my best to find the accurate game counts for everyone, but I'd throw out today's results and schedule a re-match.

On the whole "Fixing Results" thing...

I can think of ONE reason to do it, and that's Prize Distribution.
Take a look at the top 4 Teams.
Darigan, Krawk, Roo, Shenkuu

Last year, when the Haunted Woods won, there was a paintbrush as a prize.

Say Darigan Citadel wins. Darigan Paintbrush!
Krawk Island wins? Pirate Painbrush!

What to do if Roo or Shenkuu wins? There are no corresponding paintbrushes for these teams. What would they do for an uber-spiffy top-o-the-line prize?

Of course, that's all assuming that there would be a paintbrush as a prize, or that they aren't already working on a super-awesome Oriental-type painbrush... (cuz, of course, go Shenkuu!)

So yeah. There's my 2np. I don't really believe it, but I like to validate both sides of a claim, haha. Cuz I'm bored and have nothing better to do than speculate. Not that I would assume they would... they would have done it in the beginning, and I'm starting to re-gain faith in TNT again :)

i don't actually think they're fixing it, but i thought of a reason why they might.. also regarding prize distribution.. if they pick the winner now, then they can start working on the prizes and getting that all set into motion.. in case they cared that we don't like waiting months for them.

Re: Altador Cup [split #4]

The prize distribution thing is not a valid reason. TNT has never promised that all plot prize shops will offer a paint brush. I actually doubt that if Darigan wins, they'll put up a Darigan pb as a prize, considering those sell for a fixed amount in the tower. Pirate or island, maybe, but there's no guarantee.

And they've never cared about how long we have to wait. ;) Besides, most of the prizes are generic yooyuball or based on the top few teams anyway (last year there was a Roo Island book), so they could start those before finals, anyway.

Results still aren't updated from yesterday's matches, and we have just an hour before midnight. I'm actually worried something bad happened to yesterday's scores. (Also, mine were not doubled. It says I only played 14 games, which I think is a bit low -- I know I didn't play my usual 25-30ish, but I did play for almost an hour.)

My worst fear truly is glitches.
It happened last year, too. But the effects somehow didn't seem as devastating. :(

My scores have not updated either and I played thrice as much as past days/weeks.
I hope their new quickref adjustment didn't mess with our score tallying. :x
