Aww, Fidds! I'm glad everyone's okay, but that must've been an awful scare!
I've had a recall on my car before (my old car, that is). There was something wrong with the steering wheel column piece that meant that the horn and airbag wouldn't work right. Apparently, I'd been driving with it that way for quite some time without knowing (I don't use my horn much) when they finally bothered to send us a notice about it. That kinda creeped me out, though, finding out that the airbag wouldn't have worked should it have needed to!

I'm sorry Fidds about your sister.
And everyone else about their pets and computers (my parents don't allow me to have a pet...other than fish)
I haven't got affected by a recall (yet), but I did get food poisoned by that spinach incident a while back. I love spinach, maybe a little too much that I sacrifice many hours in the restroom...

shapu wrote:Wow, Fidds, I'm glad your sis is OK. You guys used moistureplus brand contact lens solution? I used it too - my optometrist handed me a sample a few months ago when I got a new style of contacts. Then I went to buy refills at Walgreens and the register popped up an alert in all caps that read "PRODUCT RECALLED DO NOT SELL CALL MANAGER MAKE WHIMPERING APOLOGY NEGOTIATE TOOTHLESS UNITED NATIONS RESOLUTION ISSUE REFUND COMMIT HARA-KIRI."
I've noticed that they've had to recall pretty much every brand of Moisture Plus contact solution because it keeps blinding people. Mayhap they'll chance upon a solution that involves, say,
not releasing anymore moisture intense contact solutions?Don't want to overstep my bounds as a potential seeing eye dog owner, but...

That was us too! We fed her a can and she rejected it. She wouldn't even look at it.
I guess we know why.

Thank God Mina doesn't eat wet food. She's such an idiot dog. She'd drink bleach if she knew how to open the bottle.

I used to use the MoistureLock stuff, but I didn't have one of the recalled batch. Now I just use the regular ReNu multipurpose solution. Still, Fidds, you story scares the crap out of me, and I'm so glad your sister is okay.

Sorry about what has happened to all of you.
As for me, my mom's car was affected by some recall, maybe the engine or brakes? But thankfully none of us were hurt by it. Also, I have a smores maker that has lead in it, but it was never recalled, it even has a warning on the side "This product contains lead, known to cause cancer by the State of California"
As for pet food, this makes me glad my pets eat dry food only.

Wow, I am very sorry about your sister. It's good to hear that she's doing all right now.
I wish I had seen this board before...
I use Complete's MoisturePlus solution... >.< (Well, now USED) And I've had problems with my contacts since like May.. but I didn't think it was anything serious.
Ehhh... I haven't worn my contacts but perhaps four times this summer and three of the four, my right eye turned red. The last time, one and a half turned red. (Yes, half, half of my left eye remained white).
>.< Back when they had the Renu recall, even though the solution I had been using wasn't the one recalled, I made my mom buy a different brand just because I was freaked out. And low and behold, the brand she chose ended up also getting recalled! This time the exact solution.

My eyes turned out to be fine, but my sister was badly affected. She got the Acanthamoeba keratitis infection and then got a staph infection in her eyes. She woke up one morning and the whites of her eyes were blood red and she had severe ocular pain. My mom took her to the optometrist immediately. With her glasses on, the vision in her left eye was so blurred she couldn't even make out many of the larger lines on the letter chart. We found out that if we had brought her in even a day later, she probably would have gone blind and the left eye would have been surgically removed.
She's just now cleared the woods due to the plethora of eye drops she has to receive every couple hours. That's why I haven't been online in a bit. The whole family's been in a panic and they had to cart me off to the eye doctor as well to make sure I didn't get it.
Has a product recall ever messed with your life? (Example: Your dog ate a bunch of that poisoned dogfood and is now pushing up daisies.) Elaborate.
I think we use the same contact solution. I found out about that recall and had to go out and get new solution which sucks because that stuff was really good. Everytime I find a good solution it always ends up getting recalled. My contact solutions have been recalled twice but I've never been affected by them.

Heh, we've got a fumigator that says "Warning: The handle in this product contains copper, which has found to be poisonous in the state of California"
So we're fine as we live outside of the states
