Altador Cup III (2008) - Prizes and results are up!

does anyone think (hope?) TNT will release some more prizes after a week or so? They did for the first cup (YYB battledome stuff). Then maybe the roo stuff can come. C'mon, not even an "YYB-playing King Roo action figure"??

And gosh, people on the boards are really being sore losers, aren't they?

edit: just looked through the trophies, and geez, even those look rushed. Last year's were better, IMHO.

I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking that the prizes suck.

The prize shop actually makes me a little sad. No funny items. Immediate prize shop. I didn't LIKE waiting forever for plot prizes... but at least the wait and humorous touches made me feel like there were real people, with a sense for the community, creating the prizes in the shops. This year's cup shop feels very antiseptic and boring. As if someone who just didn't really care, but was asked to read up on the event, made the prizes and shop. I'm underwhelmed. Looks like Neopia has become generic.

*chiming in* The Neoboards are always scary when you read them. I think they're the only outlet some people have for venting pent-up preteen anger. I can't think of any other reason why there would be so many poorly spelled and written complaints about how 1. TNT are unfair, 2. RI cheated, 3. Some other conspiracy theory.

Wow that is the worse prize shop EVER. Usually i see atleast one item that i wanna jump and buy even if i dont have lot of points.

seriously slushes? Freebies? That's all you got? I am shy by a few hundred to affoird the faerie yooyu plushie. no books for those who didnt get alot of points? past winners jerseys? And what? no paint brush?! A fire Yooyo if i worked my BOOTY off?! common for most people these prizes are going to just well suck. I mean I played atleast 5 games darn near every day. I played slushie slinger and make some noise on occasion... but I concider myself the AVERAGE player

No I'm not saying i should have been able to get the top prize but really this years prizes where far beyond stellar... I really think next year it will take a lot for me to want to play. I am HIGHLY disappointed and needless to say my 1,623 will be sitting unused for quite some time..

Oh and as for the trophies they knew everyone was going to have to stick with the team they started with so why couldn't my participant trophy thing at least have had my team on it? Or been something a bit more nice... *sigh* yes this makes me quite grumpy at TNT.

Also since we are all ranked somewhere don't you think some kind of points should have been awarded for where your team ranked? I'm not saying a TON of points but something... ahh i feel frustrated with all this lol i best stop typin.

I was refreshing the standings page all day, waiting for the update. Finally it came and my reaction was an enormous YAY!!! Our year at last!

...but then I went to soak up the glory in the news, and there's just a line about the prize shop, with no mention of our victory? There was a little update tucked away in the AC news, but where's the fanfare and confetti? I'd hoped for... a bit of confetti......

Men the prizes sucked bad!!! Well i already spent my *fewww* points on a t-shirt from darigan (7th huh? *cries*) and some slushies, and am atm looking for a fire yy seller (i have been craving one since AC I) so if anyone has a good price for a fellow PPT'er, it'd make my dreams come true!!

Um...wow. Not much of a mention in the news? And even though I supported KI this year, Blumaroos are one of my favorite pets on the site, so I wouldn't have minded a Roo-themed book or jersey or even a bobblehead as a prize.

And it's nice that they made "vintage" jerseys available as a prize, but I wish they had also put out some jerseys for RI and KI, at least. That's a little...rude, almost.

The Slushie Slinger Plushie's kind of cute, though. No idea what I'm going to get yet.

Yes, I thought it was very odd that they didn't come out and announce the winner in the news. That was kinda disappointing. I scrolled through it 3 times. Thanks, though, Matrinka, that made me smile.

Plot points were simple to calculate. 1 rank point = 12 prize points. I was able to guess this right off hand by looking at my brother's points, and was able to confirm it by both mine and my husband's. So yeah, no dealing with the number of goals in the equation this year.

I'm kinda bummed about the prizes (mainly that the top one was only 10k), but at the same time, not so much. TNT *did* tell us not to spend too much time playing. It's still on the rules page.

Q: How many scores can I submit?
A: You can play as many times as you like. All the scores you send will count, but make sure you take some time out to eat and sleep!

I guess they wanted to make sure that after last year, we don't feel obligated to play *too* much in order to get the "top" prizes. If you made it to All-Star, you had 24,000 prize points, which was almost enough to buy one of everything. (One of everything is 25,670 prize points).
The lack of variety (and humor) is kinda...boring. But...we didn't hafta wait, which *is* what we've been asking TNT for, isn't it? It would be nice to not have some sort of trade off, but I don't expect TNT to be absolutely perfect. They are at least trying to meet what we're asking, even if it's not what we expected. Honestly, this might've been a test run to see how prizes would work if they were immediate. Now that it's happened, they'll get feedback.

Sky. I am totally thinking of buying a bunch (not with my prize points, but elsewhere) to do that.

I do appreciate the idea that All-Star rank allows you to buy one of everything, almost. But it's a bit of a let down... and it still irks me that I played 2000 games and got a participant medal, whereas someone who played one game for Roo Island would get a shiny gold trophy. I wish they would incorporate ranks into the medals.

I might hang back for a while and see if any of the prizes gets to be valuable, I'm not particularly bothered about owning any of them, so I might just try and get whatever will sell best.

They're not likely to release more prizes are they? I would have thought that would be a bit unfair on anyone who spent their points immediately.

So, with 12,5(??) what should I get? I can get a Fire Yooyu and a high ranked prize. Do all the prizes show up, or just the prizes that I can afford? 10,000 for the top prize certainly isn't a lot.

I admit, I lost all interest in YYB after returning from California, but I had about 10,000 points prior.

Well, anyway, which prizes should be worth the most NP?

There are probably better ways of doing it, I was going on the lowest price on SSW (unless it was really low in which case I sniped it and used the next lowest )
The prices will change around a lot today though as people buy. Looks as though the best prizes might be the yooyu and the two books.
