Wow, I don't see the argument here to be honest.

Though I find it amusing whow outlandish claims will be made about what humans were and weren't biologically meant to do with absolutely no back up.

It's like saying 'Should people be allowed to wear blue t-shirts?'

Wow, I'll do what I like, you do the same.

Judging someone either way is extremely big headed and stupid. To assume you're right over a choice that comes down to preference......

With that said, I'm a vegetarian and everyone else sucks.

OMG IGG MISQUOTED ME!!111!1!1

[I know I do (think you have a body that just wont quit) ] - Igg... Yeah, I'm not even gonna change that. Except put it back in context yeah, fine, i said that. I say it ALL the time >.> Would it help if I say it back? (maybe if we do this through edit Jim wont tell us to get a room...) I have a room. You have a room. It's all very civil. Hmm, for US to get a room, does that require us to MELD rooms? I wouldn't know. Who needs a room anyway? Grassy knolls are fine by me.. That also Works ^^ they'll never know what we got up to on that grassy knoll....They don't NEED to know... I pity the guy with the tank top though.. Who doesn't? I think his dog was only hanging out for pity factor. And yes, they don't need to know *shifty eyes* Did you ever stop to think that other people can see this? No, me neither...eheh.. Heh... no one will though, who'll look in such an unsuspecting place then spot *DUM DUM DUM* two obsessive freaks >.>; Two? That's optimistic of you ^^ Denial isn't just something that sassy black women can use to sass yo out. It's also, uh, the state you're in. >.> RACIST PIG DOG! Yer ginger haired, kilt wearing, bagpipe playing freak! Cumbrian. (PWN'D) Well, that told me... Yup ^^ So, now, were where we? Shamelessly asking to be told 'Get a room' I think.....Although 'get a grassy knoll' would be OK...*coughJimgetherenow* XD But we already got a grassy knolll... *coughcoughYHaloTharJimCough* >.>; we're so not trying to get admins to edit the post. That'd be like, sad.which of course, we are not.. Yup ^^ Also do you think anyone's noticed yet? Oh well. We're not obsessed with the month july... or the date 27.. or who we may or may not have met on that date >.>; 27th July? Hmm, doesn't ring a bell.... I don't think I've met you before....oh, aren't you that tall blonde guy who hangs outside my window? No, I'm the tall blonde guy you spy on. Notice whow it's always chilly? Yeah, you're OUTSIDE! >.> Oh god, THAT'S why I'm always cold. But hang on, who's the guy outside my window? He's my informant. He has no spy camera's or the like. Oh also, I'm obsessed. With? Beans? When beans = Igg.I should take offence...you know, I could, somewhow, interpret that offensively because of my general antipathy towards the foodstuff we call beans. But it's cool, obsessive stalking and all.. I'm not particularly fond of beans myself. But whow do we control the contents of paralel dimensions? Can't. Yes, obsseesive stalking is perfectly healthy for both of us...You never know, we could have a word with Trevor.. look, I don't know about you, mate, but I'm perfectly healthy Trevor is too clever to allow us to trifle with him. PErfectly healthy eh? not me *sets up camp in grassy knoll*Whow can I not be healthy? I haven't had an accident since like, yesterday! *ongoing injuries not included* Watch out for nettles. It was you who was haphazardously waving your hand around in the grass/nettles..... and luck=/= health. Otherwise I'd be healthy ^^ And I wouldn't be...oh...feh. There were no nettles where I waved my hand around! In a...er...purely theoretical situation >.> We've got them all fooled... they'll never know.I think i really threw them off with the theoretical situation remark >.>; SLY. Sock is totally wrong about us being psycho's of course.. people make obsessive convo's like this all the time, right?Uhuh. See them all the time. Just part of the scenery Yeah, mods constantly just edit posts to have covos. Me and Igg chatting? Pure co-incidence, eh?Look, it happens all the time, honestly, no need to make a thing about it *flustered* Lets face it, we're the best posters evar. >.> I totally deserve to be a mod. XPI told you, there's no special way, you have to apply like everyone else! We may be the best posters, but we've hardly racked up the post counts during this... True. We shoulda spammed >.>; Yes, there is no special way.. Uh, *wink* <.< think anyone's noticed this yet other than sock?As a moderator, i feel I should tell you... spam spam spam spam spam spam spam...lovely spam, wonderful spam! Noone's noticed. Don't be ridiculous. Sock said it because of the shirt thing... Yes, the crazy shirt statement. Bacon eggs and spam, spam spam spam spam spam spam baked beans spam and spam.... 'Could I have the sausages, eggs, spam and beans without the spam?' 'EURGH!' >.>;What d'you mean URRRRRRGH! I don't like spam. Wow, this is actually slightly topic appropriate. Slightly. Not anymore...... So, whow much d'ya wanna bet no one will notice this? No one else will post, the topic will die etc >.<I reckon that'll happen...it's quite unnoticable. there's my crappy post THEN A BULK OF RED AND BLACK. Wow, we truly pwn. >.> Over 30 edits. A NEW RECORD!It quite possibly is. We should've gone for pink and blue, really.. Yeah, our trade marks. Ah well, would take too long to fix. I demand a history book of PPT be started. And we get included. In the 'pwniest things ever' section. Maybe. There's a PPT Yearbook thread thing in Site Disc, i think :P Try there! Alas, I have to go...err....don't be too heartbroken *pat pat* *sniff sniff* Ah well, this is a pretty good run ^^ Speak to ya tommorow.. maybe here >.>;There there. Lonely monologues are ok ^^; <insert long lonely monologue here>

Yes, but do plants have a brain? :P

(My favorite argument when people point that out to me is to tell them to disect a plant and find it's brain, spinal cord, and organs, and tell me when they do. XD; )

Anyway, yes, I am a vegetarian, but even though I completely support the vegetarian lifestyle, I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

..and Iggers, Fergus? Did you know you two are psycho? :P
Edit: And no, I said it because of your scary edit convo.

Does it matter? You're still a nasty murderer ^_______^
Just because it isn't sentient do you have the right to kill it? *Eats them anyway*

I think its up to the person. Vegetarians dont bother me at all, if thats what they think is better and healtier for ther body then they can just go ahead.

In my own opinion, all people who eat meat are murderers, I included. I attempted to become a vegetarian around May, and stayed one until mid-June. After eating just noodles, legumes, bread and the like, I wished for a taste of meat without eating it. After trying tofu, I decided to continue on as long as I could. You see, I didn't like Tofu, nor did I like soy. After about three more weeks of this, I cracked and ate elk meat that my father had killed that previous November. Although I was a vegetarian, I still shot animals for sport. I just think that if we didn't have hunting seasons, animals would overpopulate and that would just hurt them all more. There isn't enough space for them to live in the USA anyway. Knowing that I shoot animals was enough to make me ponder- Can you be a vegetarian but still shoot for sport? After resolving this issue, I remained undecided. Your thoughts?

Sure, who cares if other people want to stop themselves from consuming glorius meat, because of factory farms and the like. Just as long as no one tries to impose a "holier-than-thou" additude. :)

What the....

Lets shoot animals so they don't over populate? It's US that have over populated. The eco system is a self operating beautiful system that works perfectly without inteference. Randoly shooting animals wont make it better. That's total crap. The eco system is balanced with ways of making it so all the animals and plants use eachother in a balanced way. Humans really do screw it up a fair bit. No, shooting animals is NOT helping them, it's called killing them.

Secondly: Vegetarians can kill for sport, or not, depending on why they are vegetarians.

Vegetarians who do it for health reasons, or because they want to say 'I'm a vegetarian lol' while eating chick and fish can shoot what they like, they do it for themselves.

Vegetarians who do it because they don't wanna kill animals aren't likely to go out and shoot them.

I think that it's wrong to kill animals, but everybody has their own opinion and I can't say that their opinion is wrong.

But thats the thing.. if no one ate meat, they would all be killed.
Farmers keep farm animals which they keep for meat, which in the long run makes them money. If everyone in the world suddenly became a vegetarian, farmers would have no reason to own the animals. People aren't going to adopt them for household pets. So, what would happen... More than likely the animals would have to be put down so they don't cost more money... Costs money to put them down, and it costs a lot less money for some bullets...

I do realise that probably made no sence at all, and don't take that wrong. I'm not saying eat meat, I'm just saying what I think of the subject.

The point there is that the animals are being raised, often (especialy in the case of say chickens) not in very healthy or plesent conditions, specificaly to be killed. If fewer people ate meat than the demand for meat would slowly drop and people would start raising fewer animals for those ends. It's not like people would just start going out and randomly killing animals at a greater rate than they do now because fewer people stated eating meat. They would simply breed fewer of them.

Besides many vegitarians still eat animal products, so, say the cows would be shifted over from beef cattle to milk cattle. I'm sure there are some exceptions (like pigs, which people do keep as pets by the way) but many animals that people eat often provids other products, dairy, wool, eggs, etc.

Basicaly there are a lot of holes in your argument.

Personaly I eat meat, but do so rarely since it's not particularly healthy and because I know in my heart that it is ethicaly questionable.

I think that people are somewhat entitled to their own opininon but that they should be aware of how serious a decision it is. Too many people make that decision casualy or don't bother to make it at all.

I also think that there needs to be more regulation of the industry -- it's sickening how, the beef industry especialy, has crippled goverment oversite to the point where it cant' even authorize a recall of tainted and deadly meat.

But I digress from the actual poll topic.

Personaly I think that a person's eating habits are something that are their business. However I don't think that the argument we were "designed" to do anything is a valid one. The point of being human is that we have sentiance and can make decisions inteligently. There's not a probelem with people eating meat, but I think that people need to see that as a choice, too many people never think about it.

If fewer people ate animals, we'd have to have more grown food, which takes more land and resources, surprisingly. If you're a vegetarian becaause "meat is murder," one ought to realise so is eating grains and vegetables. Harvesters kill hundreds of thousands of ground animals per season. Unless you grow your own food and make sure no animals were harmed in the process, you're still "killing" plenty of them.

Although I have nothing against vegetarians, it annoys me when they go around calling people "murderers" because they're eating meat. First of all, you can only be a murderer if you killed it yourself (even if we are paying people to do it)... which I WON'T shoot an animal. Secondly, saying that eating meat is unhealthy is blastphemy, just like saying being a vegetarian is unhealthy. Too much of one and not the other in unhealthy. A balanced diet consists of BOTH meats and plants... Its a matter of opinion no matter how much some people think it isn't. Since morality was mentioned, morality is just a basic standard of right and wrong that society has created over hundreds of years (mostly by religion), its not a code of life. As long as they don't force their beliefs onto me, vegetarians and I will get along fine, in fact, I have a vegetarian friend. ^-^

Things like 'I have a vegetarian friend' and the implication that meat eaters only eat meat and that vegetarians are somewhow killing more than meat eaters seriously bug me.

Look; We wouldn't need to grow more food. Did you realise these pigs, cows etc are all eating stuff too?

The amount of land used to feed the amount of animals being raised for meat could easily be used to grow things we can eat.

Don't pull the whole 'LOL but u eat plants murderer!' schtick. Look here: Vegetables are eaten, by whoever, then later uhm, return to the earth. This spreads there seed to another patch of land. That's how they work. Animal eats, carries seed, leaves it somewhere else to grow. Essentially, it's reproducing by being eaten. Now, lets look at a cow..... no, it's NOT going to reproduce by being eaten by you. Nor will it change the fact if you killed it personally or not; The animal was raised in an extremely cruel way for you to have a meal. A life of pain for you to eat. Is it fair? It only happened because of the demand partially created by you, the meat eater.

That said, I don't go around preaching it. This thread is for the discussion of this, so if you wanna make crap points I'll happily correct them.

Oh, and one last thing; Seeing 'I have a vegetarian friend' is as offencive as it would be to say 'Oh, I have a black friend'. As if it's somewhow sweet and caring of you to take one of us vegetarians as a friend.

You'd think I was a leper or something.

Yeah, your right, that was stupid and I apologize. I didn't think before I posted.

No one said you did. All I presented was that the debate between the two different sides was based entirely on personal opinion and in my opinion I don't want people pushing their opinions on me. That's nothing but fact, and fact can only be changed into falsehood. Therefore, it can't be corrected.

I'm not commenting on the rest of the message, I would weed it out piece by piece but I have no idea what's being directed to whom, and also because none of that has any significance to my post at all, maybe from your side, but not from mine.

Yes we would have to grow more food. Do you think you can eat what pigs and cows eat? They eat the toughest parts of grains that humans can't process in any way.

As far as I know, grazing animals take a lot less land than growing grain and vegetables to produce the same amount of food. However, I'm not saying humans should only eat meat. That would create an inbalance as well.

When lions and tigers eat a zebra, do zebras use that way to reproduce? When humans eat vegetables, do the human waste end up being strewn across the land to cultivate the earth? Does our modern day sewage system support this cycle?
