An interesting item found by someone on the boards:

Neovian Tunnels Background
What could lie under Neovia?
Category: Special
Release Date: June 27, 2012

Neovian Tunnels Background SWF

To me, it seems that TNT have been working on this for awhile, as it seems strange they would make a background that fits so neatly into this plot/event.

It's possible that the background was an inspiration for this next part of the plot? I'd be surprised if they released something over a year before for just an "event" (as they're still calling it).

I'm glad we have a day off. I plan on going and laying down for a nap - funny how exhaustion kicks in after a huge stress is relieved.

Yay! Only have ~15 minutes to do all the things on the internet. Only got like 7-8 of my Food Club bets in. Hopefully something fun for the weekend.

No update today. What a letdown. :(

If the plants had been hard, I would have understood not updating straightaway, but to make us wait after such an easy step is weird.

At least Siniri is not missing anything today. :)

More dialogue today, we get to meet Baffington, but no new step.

(ETA: Grrh, I just realised this is a double post. Blue can you edit it for me please!) :)

Hello Baffington.

Maybe with the news release this afternoon? I suppose I should actually go read all the things, but I'm just not feeling it. The ones I did read weren't very interesting and didn't make much sense.

Another bit of conversation to read today. Looks like we'll be heading into the catacombs or vaults or whatever they are tomorrow...

Oh, no, Blue! I hope you're able to get online at least briefly sometime tomorrow, and that the first day is super-short.

I hope I get on line and it's super super short. "Click here to enter catacombs... to be continued" LOL

Most exciting part about tomorrow will be the Tijuana Taxi ride. NOT exciting in a good way, though

The Perilous Catacombs

Underneath Neovia lies a vast network of tunnels and chambers built by dark magic. The evil family that had it constructed is long gone, but many strange and spooky things lurk down here. It's the perfect hiding place for a monster on the run from our favourite Monster Hunters...

Click on a door in the map below in order to proceed. You must find your way to the exit... before too many curses pile up!

So far, it looks like you just choose a method to go through the doors and you either win a prize or get a curse. I don't know the effects of the curses.

The first curse I got (Curse of Fatigue) had a countdown of 5 minutes, although I could still move.

ETA: Apparently the Curse of Fatigue stops you from entering a new level. My curse ran out, and I can continue to Floor 2.

On Floor 3, but got a 6 hour fatigue curse. It also seems the curses are longer on each floor achieved.

ETA2: To get a Treasure each time, choose these options (read the top blurb for the action)
arguing - take sides
Banjos - hum along
hoarse voices - stomp feet
loud chanting - hum
rhyming in couplets - burst in violently
snores - slip in silently
talking about weather or luggage - open door boisterously
unearthly moan - knock politely

silence might be random.

I have been timed out from the curse for 45 minutes. Ready to go onto Floor 3.
The shiny square is the NC portion. You buy a scroll to use it (if you want to), as usual this does not affect game play.

ETA3:

If you find the Exit, and only have a couple of pieces of treasure, you can choose to keep looking through all the doors.

There is 12 available spots for treasure.

If you find:
1 - 4 pieces, you get to chose 1.
5 - 8 pieces, you get to chose 2.
9 - 12 pieces, you get to chose 3.

As long as you have the amount of treasure you want, then you can chose to Exit.

CURSES
(spoiler due to size)Thanks to PPT for information.
Curse of Apathy - Blocks other curses from taking effect.
Curse of Barrel Roll - The map will do a roll while the text 'BARREL ROLL' is displayed.
Curse of Cleansing - Allows you to get rid of one curse on your list.
Curse of Clobbering - ???
Curse of Clumsiness - ???
Curse of Craving - You will be forced to eat a piece of your treasure.
Curse of Cursed Treasure - The next piece of treasure you pick up will curse you.
Curse of Distraction - You forget to pick up the next piece of treasure.
Curse of Fatigue - Prevents you from moving to the next floor while in effect.
Curse of Feebleness - Prevents the 'stomp' action from working on doors.
Curse of Foresight - Allows you to see what is in a room.
Curse of Inversion - Turns the map upside down.
Curse of Kleptomania - The next time you encounter treasure, you receive two pieces instead of one.
Curse of Lethargy - ???
Curse of Longevity - Increases the time span of other curses.
Curse of Meepitude - ???
Curse of Mystery - ???
Curse of Narcolepsy - Turns the map dark.
Curse of Sarcasm - ???
Curse of Shrinkage - The map shrinks to a smaller size.
Curse of Snow - The map text turns all white.
Curse of Tyranu Evavu - All curses are turned into "TYRANU EVAVU".
Curse of the Pant Devil - One piece of treasure is stolen from you.

Hmm, I'm not so sure about your list, Daze. I tried all 3 actions for some of the things on your list to no avail, and I got cursed every time. I definitely tried humming along with the chanting and got cursed, too.

Right now, the curses I still have left are distraction, feebleness(1), longevity(2), and narcolepsy(5). I haven't been able to get back in for quite a while now.

ETA: The narcolepsy curse still lets you click on doors, even though it looks just like the "must wait" screen from the flowers.

... And I got my first treasure following Daze's guide (or would have had I not been distracted...). Apparently it doesn't work 100% of the time, but improves your odds.

... Finally! (I chose stomping for silence.)
You stomp your way into the room in time to see a giant Globilol panicking and floating away. Lucky you! These floating eyeballs can wreak havoc when they choose. That one left behind some treasure.

You receive Striped Elephante Pop-Up Book!

You hastily gather it up and put it in your pack.

Yep, it's randomish -- double failures trying to stomp when I should have, and knocking just got me a prize after silence (earlier it cursed me), etc.

Re: Spooky Food Eating Contest - Plot

I totally should've looked for guides first, heh. I just barreled through my first two, and then the third, and then came to read guides. Mr. P on the other hand, when he was home for lunch, used the list Daze posted and *most* of the time those solutions worked. Not all the time, but more than it being random. (Once, he left with 14 items to pick 3 from - and it seemed like his items were much better than mine, but that could just be coincidence.)

It seems though, like the wait time continues to go up. I had to wait for over an hour to get to the third level, but my waiting time for going to level 4 is only just over 6 hours. Mr. P smartly saved his Curse of Cleansing for right before ending level 2, and cleansed his waiting time...but his waiting time for level 4 is much longer, over 7 hours...about the difference of time he saved with his cleansing curse.

HOWEVER, this being said, if you haven't done some of the earlier levels, or you want to time the longer waits...save your curse of cleansing for the end of the level and clear the wait. OR save it for the next level. Whatever curses you leave the level with, they seem to stick around until their "turn times" (how many doors you open) are over.

Blue, I hope the above will help you catch up faster!

Not humming any more for loud chanting. I got treasure 1x, but I've had that one at least 7-8 times now -- that's way too low a percentage. I'll try the other two options out and see if one's better, since that scenario seems to "like" me.

ETA: I had a feeling curses might affect results. I was right. From another forum:
However, all of the "correct" answers shift to some extent. Stomping with hoarse voices is pretty constant unless you have the curse of feebleness. Taking sides with the argument is good, but sometimes it's mediate the argument. If something is snoring/sleeping, usually sneaking in works, but I've also had it not work when I had curse of clumsiness. I've had bursting in violently work for couplets, but also knocking politely. For chanting, sometimes knocking politely works, but other times humming. If there's banjos, it's usually humming, but I've also had banjo duel work too. If there's slime, put the gloves on before you open the door. It all seems to be rather variable to me, but perhaps it's all just dependent upon which curses you have active? I can try to keep a better record, since all of these I just remember off the top of my head.
