Oh boy, that's the kind of thing I think about all the time. It really freaks me out, the thought that something could happen to one of us, and depending on the person, it would be unlikely that anyone would ever know what happened to them. That's the one and only downside to online versus offline friendships (as far as I see it), and occasionally I'll just start thinking about that (usually triggered by something like this) and it bothers me for a while...you'd only just driven over it? That's just...whoa. I...that...yeah. Sorry, I often think in feelings instead of words, and I sometimes just don't have words.

Thanks for your personal account of what happened. It is very true, life is fragile and fleeting, so the best we can all do is appreciate it and live it as well as we can.

Who knows if one day one of us is part of a disaster and suddenly dissapears ... thank goodness you're ok.

The bridge is less than a mile away from where I'm living next year - it's so scary that it can happen so close to home. I'm glad you are okay!! It is such a tragedy, but I'm so glad that the death count is as few as it is. Considering the fact it happened during rush hour, it could have been so many more. The response in Minneapolis was phenomenal, I was very impressed with how well they handled it. And in the long run, it really is going to make many bridges safer - I live in Wisconsin, and I know they quickly went to inspecting all our bridges and are making plans to repair and rebuild as necessary. I guess there is always a silver lining.

On a more selfish note, traffic is going to be crazy in the area - that was an 8 lane highway. Le sigh.
