Trolleybus = transport of choice.
Mostly because buses don't really go where I need them to go.

I frequently take the city bus.
I rarely drive anywhere myself; I prefer to walk. If I'm going anywhere in this city I either walk or take the bus. Bus is much cheaper than the gas for driving too.
When I'm back home for the summer I'll be walking if I have to go anywhere; I like the fresh air and exercise.

I normally take the bus and train, but since the weather is getting much better, I've replaced the bus part of my trip with a bike ride.

I've lived in Houston for 15 years and I've never taken any form of public transportation, save for the very rare taxi to the airport. It's just not practical for a sprawling city like ours. The only function that our light rail system seems to serve is scaring the pants off of anyone who tries to drive Downtown, as it's not possible to navigate those streets without being almost hit by it like 5 times.

The Bus, if it was on time it would serve all my purposes quite well, but as it is, it's at best irritating.

I take the bus, almost exclusively. The train here is absolutely horrible - it doesn't go anywhere, just north to south. Finally, though, it is being expanded to places people actually need to go. I take cabs occasionally, if I'm in a bind. I don't have a car, so public transportation is my only choice!

Well, unfortunately I don't live in a big city (despite living in Albany, the state capitol of New York, it's nickname is "Smallbany"), and my hometown really did have more cows than people. Heck, my hometown doesn't have a single stoplight! Hate to break it to you, KMB, but not all of us are blessed to live in organized metropolitan centers ;)

To get all my "daily chores" with the exclusion of grocery shopping (clothes shopping, movies, etc) done in my hometown, it probably required going to the next small city, which was called Rochester...and a good 25 minutes away.

I know alot of people who live in the "suburban sprawl" as well, which usually lacks decent public transportation as well.

Really if I have to go some where I'd drive. The buses here stop too in frequently. But yes HK has a beast public transportation network. *hugs Octopus Card*

So, so, SO true. There've been a ton of wrecks from the rail.

Light rail, which I put under train. Take it home from school every day. I used to take the bus, but light rail's faster and the two bus routes I can use to get to my street are pretty unreliable when you're downtown, where my school is.

Though the light rail basically only goes north/south, I believe. Or maybe it's east/west. Anyway, only two directions, and I'm lucky enough to live a couple of blocks from a station.

Go Baltimore.

Albany's transportation sucks...The buses don't go where you need them to, and taxis cost more than in major cities (Seriously, a taxi from eastern Schenectady to downtown Albany costs $35, while a drive twice that in Boston cost the same...What?)

As far as public transportation around here, I know a lot of people that use the buses, but I can't be bothered to change my personal schedule to adapt to the bus schedule. My time is too important to me. I wish we had a subway (can't 'cos I live in Florida) or that I lived near the train (which is only a North-South train).

Ang, which town did you live in? I was born and raised in Rochester and it's loads bigger than Albany! I miss Rochester some days :(

*Hugs my Octopus card* They are so useful and convenient. I can use them in nearly all public transportation and in some shops and the school canteen. No need to always prepare money in advance. The problem with them is that I always forget to add value when my card's balance is low.

None. Our bus system- the little public transport we have- doesn't even come close to my house/school/work.

We need to take a hint from Paris. Their subway system was RIDICULOUS. And by ridiculous I mean fast and convenient.

I was in Caledonia, which is really tiny, so if you have any clue where that is I'll be shocked, ha. I miss Rochester sometimes too...and the Lilac Festival is coming up!

At least they have shuttles to that ;)
