Well, if remember correctly, Jiraiya took Pain, Konan and Yahiko (Pain's current body) in. He could've trained them. And Jiraiya was remarkably strong.
Plus, don't forget, Pain has the Rinnegan, which is stronger then the Sharingan and the Byakugan.
EDIT - DAMMIT KAKASHI, DON'T DIE.

D;
EDIT II - O hay. I found something in the description of a picture on dA. It's a good thing I watch this girl or I would've missed this. Wasn't aware of it.

DM, what's your Neopets username? It looks like I'll have to send you condolences soon. Even though I predicted it, I didn't want to be right.
Why do these epics always have to kill off all the parental figures/mentors to the "hero"? (Actually, that's a critical component to the epic, but still...)
Flowers and donations can be sent to dottie6644... XD I kid. I doubt it'll happen the more I'm reading this. (I'm on pages 529 and 533. Between the crying and the NaNoWriMo references, you'll know who I am) The lack of chakra might just knock him unconscious or he'll possibly lose his sharingan.
But if it does happen...OMG I H8 U. T_T XD
Danzou though. He's definitely making me curious...
Wow you managed to write sentences without your tears ruining your keyboard DM! WHY COULDN'T IT HAVE BEEN SASUKE?!?!?!?!? Stinks though, least Tobi's alive!
Just read 425, and I'd suggest not even bothering. It read like filler -- no plot advancement (except for some not-so-shocking news that Naruto learns).
It was a little confusing, because last week seemed to set up Kakashi having some final plan up his sleeve, but then it was all flashbacks. If that's really the end of him, it'd be really disappointing. Jiraiya had less screen time, and his death scene went on for chapters and chapters, so I'm expecting a bit more Kakashi yet.
Blue graffitied on my signature... But it made me laugh, so it's all good!
Wow. I just read today's release, and there was nothing really new: Naruto won't give up, a bunch of flashbacks, yadayada... However, what was conspicuously absent was
any mention of Kakashi. Was that really the end for him? Or are we on a mammoth cliffhanger? I went back and looked at last week's, and they show his seemingly lifeless body after he meets his dad. But then what was that "last thing up his sleeve"? And did he ever manage to communicate with anyone what he learned about how to defeat Pain?
Well, it wouldn't be Naruto if it actually made sense...
