Winter Sidebar...

I got it (at around 12:40:35). I collected every day at random times. I watched every single animation all the way through before collecting, and again after (for the looping ones where it was hard to tell when they ended, I let them play for a couple minutes). I had some snowballs and a grape snowflake in my inventory, but that doesn't seem to matter. I played Ice Cream Machine today and sent a score. I sent a snowball to someone, and received an advent item from someone. I donated stuff today. None of my pets or petpets have anything to do with winter or snow, and all my pets are in the neolodge. That's it, I think!

Well, its a winter sidebar....im not so sure it has anything to do with whether or not you collected every day. I collected every day LAST year and I didn't get it.... thats why i really want to know if there IS anybody who hasnt collected all the advent items but got the sidebar today anyway..

I dont think it has anything to do with snow items, petpets, games, quests, or pet happiness either....

Oh, me neither. I just included all that crap to be thorough. Truthfully, I think it might just be collecting every day and watching all the animations all the way through before collecting. Simple, yeah, but I know a lot of people don't actually wait and watch.

How would they record that, though? It seems like it would create a ton of problems. Anyways, I watched every single one, so that might be it.

I watched most of the animations in full after I'd collected my prizes, but the past week or so, I didn't bother. I just collected the prizes and left.

I got it and:

Collected every day at fairly random times.
Did at least one Talia quest
Had nothing in inventory aside from items in trades (non-winter related items)
Had 1-2 Advent items in SDB
No snow/Christmas pets or petpets
No snow/winter related BD items equipped
Looked at news daily.
Pet mood is Delighted

In short, I did nothing *actively* that is winter/xmas related to try to get meet the supposed requirements for the sidebar, aside from collecting the Advent items. Either it's really random or it's some basic possibly non-winter related requirement.

Got it this year.

Differences between this and last:
1) Viewed entirety of animations before collecting for ALMOST all days, I think I missed one. Last year, I only watched after.
2) My pets all had 15HP and were Delighted! but Starving. Last year, they probably had at least one at the lowest happiness level.
3) I sent a Wet Snowball to my side.
4) Nothing in inventory this time.

I got the sidebar today.

All I really did was make sure to watch the animations all the way through and collect every day.

As to other winter-related activities, at some point during the month I played a few winter games and left a few snowballs in my inventory, but that's about it.

I recieved mine a few minutes after midnight NST while collecting from the AC.

Things I did this month off the top of my head....

played snow wars &garage sale
visited various shops in happy valley & on terror mountain
sent holiday cards
had every 06' advent item in my inventory
sent out gifts on xmas eve & morning
recieved gifts
I have past advent items in my SDB, snowballs & other wintery/holiday items

im pretty sure it has nothing to do with watching animations all the way through. The applet simply loads and plays the animation and loops it... it doesnt record anything....

It has nothing to do with pet mood or having all advent items in inventory. I didn't get it. :cry:

Maybe I should have waited to collect it?

I missed one day, and at least one animation I didn't see in full, so I don't know, amybe waiting would have done nothing.
I also equipped snowballs, snoflakes (wet) and played with several winter themed toys with my pets.
I visited shops in happy valley. Didn't buy anything though. I may have played a winter themed game this month.

Well, honestly I did nothing different from last year, and I just got it.

I watched all the animations and got the prizes every day. I read all the books we got to one pet, and kept everything else in my sdb, not selling any of the prizes I got. (I did buy and re-sell gobblers and books though).

I don't have any Christmas or snow pets, I had nothing snow related in my inventory. I donated nothing today, and actually, I've been barely playing the site lately, just doing dailies.

I have no idea what the condidtions could possibly be! <:)

What if the requirments are randomly selected for each user, like varrious other things like plots, avatar links, etc?

Well, I got it.

:D I am SO relieved. I wanted it so bad, and I told myself I'd wait until it got figured out before I went to collect, but at around 1 AM I decided that it was impossible to figure out and I might as well just get it over with.

I won't even type out everything I did, I tried every possible theory that's been floating around, winter games, snow items in inventory, donating, etc.

Actually, I was just thinking about that earlier in the month. It would make sense, nobody's stories seem to have anything in common.
