Winter Sidebar...

I got it! I collected everyday, and most items now live in my SDB, although some of them are in my various galleries. I played with some of the items- the Lucky Game Set thing, at the very least. I also watched each animation all the way through.

No sidebar for this neomania. I believe i missed one collecting from the Advent Calendar due to a crazy, hectic, stressful day at school. However, I did buy those items that I missed at a fellow neopian's shop. So i believe that it is fairly accurate to say that in order to have the winter theme sidebar bestowed upon your account site preferences, you need to collect the prize(s) every single day from the Advent Calendar. Happy new year!

I collected every day, I think.
I did not watch all the animations all the way through.
I did not have any snow or winter items in my inventory, but I did have one of the advent items in my inventory.
I sold or donated most of my advent items, and kept only the ones I really liked in my gellery (and some I put in my SDB becuase I have no more room in my gallery)
I do not have any snow or xmas pets.
Not sure what else to add...

With all the "I dids" and "I didn'ts" that cancel each other out, couldn't it just be random???

Did they give everyone the winter sidebar on Christmas? They usually do, but I don't recall it this year...

I gave in, and collected - no sidebar.

This is almost as bad if not worse than also missing the cyodrake's gaze sidebar, I can't decide.

The only thing I can think of is that
I DIDN'T collect everyday.

I didn't get the sidebar. I missed the advent calendar on 2 days. But last year I collected every day and didn't get it, and I've heard of other people who didn't collect every day and still got it. That's my favorite sidebar!

I'm leaning towards some sort of point system.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post, I used all the usable items, except the food and the muffins. I played with the toys, read the books, and put furniture in my neohome.

Gosh...I wish I could try to get it on a side account just to test some theories, but that would be against the rules.

The editorial did say requirements, right? As in, more than one requirement? Perhaps it was collect each day AND do/have something else. But I can't for the life of me think of what I did this year that I failed to do last year.

Surely it's not have your account be a certain age? That theory's been debunked, right?

Oh yes, I put all of my Advent Calendar stuff into my SDB.

I got it but my wife did not. She missed one day and was effected by the lost item glitches. I went every day and I played some winter games. We both do snowager alot. I used a shortcut last year but the news this year. I have not seen anyone that said they went every day both years comment much on that.

Or could it be that Neopets has the same criteria but changed the way they track if you have gone or had a glitch last year that marked a lot of people as not going. I seem to recall there was something about being able to go over and over last year on one day. I did not do that or hear about it until later so I don't know if it was just a rumor. But if true it would seem that the database did not mark you as having went which would explain why a lot of people are getting it this year and not last. If true that is.

no nps out.
no items out.
collected every day.
watched animations (most of the time) all through.
did it at no specific time.
no snow or snow based pets.
no christmas or christmas based pets.
&& 2 of my pets fully healed. other two, a little bit
I didnt really try hard at getting it.
No winter games.
No Winter quests.
Nothing.
&& I joined neopets This year.
&& I wasnt effected by the glitches.
idk.
i hope someone finds out because my sister didnt get it && i feel bad for her.

Eh... well my account is 6+ years old and I didn't get it. And my pets were all 5+ years old last year and I didn't get it.

That still doesn't explain how some people who didn't go every day got the sidebar.

All of my pets met every single one of these requirements last year. No sidebar for me then.

That theme wasn't even available last year, and people still got it. I was usuing the Maraqua theme when I got mine this year.

Some interesting theories, but I don't think any of them are right. Sorry.
