Well, I must admit that a lot of the Flash art and animations are very, very, very nice actually. The beach background changes to a sunset scene after a little while. I would almost think it nicer if it did so by real time though, either NST or the time zone of the location of the user. But seriously, talk about basically throwing money away. That is almost like leaving some cash around your house only to find in 3 months it is not even under the couch cushions; it's just gone *poof* ... and quite an unfair bargain in my opinion.

EDIT: I shouldn't give the Federal Reserve any ideas. They could start making real currency with expiration dates soon.

This whole Neo Cash thing has really pushed the limits for me. Neopets is slowly and carefully trying to phase out the free aspect to the point it will be worthless and boring for nonpaying members. Sure, there will always be a "free" part of the site but when all the good stuff and all the best games and best content start to go exclusively to paying members, that's going to destroy the site for good.

I don't think it's quite fair that premium members are already paying every month and have to pay for these items on top of that. I can understand maybe setting a limit of items a prem can get without paying, but to ask for payment upon payment, that's a bit much. They haven't added new premium content in ages.

I had a feeling this had something to do with Nexon before I read the article. I do pay for Nexon Audition items. That makes sense to me because you play that game with other people and others can see how your character looks. Your neopets will most likely only be viewed by you. Unless they also add something where other users can see your pets more, like a game/activity/whatever, I don't think it's quite worth it. (Although, some of the sparkly items are tempting. lol I'm somewhat partial to the Shenkuu background. )

No, I was able to do that. You just click Try On under the item you want to sample, and the Flash pic of your active pet on the left should update. If you don't see Try On, maybe your active pet isn't compatible with that item?

Honestly I don't mind things like Neocash items and such. All it means is Neopets is using other ways of making money rather than making a monthly fee to play. I don't plan to get any of the items however since they expire.

They seem to be only animated in your quick ref! >.< They aren't animated in your profile, in that little pic to your left as you browse the site, in the portal pic, etc. The animation was a big reason why I liked the NeoCash items over the regular items. :/

Hrm.... it worries me that they have nothing spelled out to a situation where neocash/items could be lost in a glitch fashion (similar to what rarely occurs with Nexon's paid stuff.) Being pessimistic knowing TNT's record with regular in-game items it's surprising that nothing about it was incuded in the help section.

There are quite a few items on there I wouldn't mind customizing my pets with and was seriously considering paying for them until, like many others, noticed that the items expired. There is nooooo way I am going to pay real money for something that just goes poof after a certain amount of time. O_o that's just ridiculous. If they change it so that you get to keep the items indefinately then of course I'll purchase some but not until then. lol

It is a shame you can't see it on your userlookup but I actually clicked and let it load. It is really cute and I really love the background..I still just can't get over the experation thing though

It irks me though because look at all of the clothing items in circulation, how few of them can be used, and yet they are pouring their time into making temporary clothing and backgrounds. I bought some costumes when I heard that they were going to start making clothing wearable. One of the items I bought were a pair of flaming wings. So I guess those wings I bought are unlikely to ever be wearable since you can buy something similar with real world money?

And the only backgrounds we even have right now are four solid colors, but they made a bunch of nice looking backgrounds to charge for?

It would be one thing if they had let us keep the clothing our pets already had on before the revamp like my baby mynci's pajamas. She looked good like that. I wouldn't have felt too slighted that people have the option to buy temporary clothing with real world money because I already felt good about how my pets looked. But now it's been a while since the revamp and my poor baby mynci (who I spent 600k on to make her look cute) is naked and to make her look good again I just know I'm going to be required to buy something. I resent that.

*sigh* if that Kauvara Costume Hat was just a plain wizardy hat without horns and ears I would be SO tempted to get it for my ixi, it would be perfect. And I'd love the shenkuu background for my draik, and the flame wings look wicked on my fire peophin.

But I'm not spending money on things that expire, nope, no way, never.

Another thing that bothers me is that the smallest amount you can buy at once is 5$. If I could spent 1 or 2 dollars at a time I might consider it, just for fun even though they expire. But I'm not forking out five bucks for stuff that goes poof.

Catgrrrrrrl (and anyone else with a baby mynci), you should send a letter to the editorial or feedback of some kind, asking that your baby mynci get her pj's back. Since (nearly?)all other painted pets who had clothing got to keep their clothes after the revamp, it's entirely unfair that the poor lil myncis be left naked!

Well I thought I would just see what this NC Mall business was all about and wow have I had my eyes opened reading these posts!! I like others have stated will NEVER pay for anything on Neopets and think it is utterly ridiculous to even ask this of us. Why oh why does it all have to come down to money and making more of it. I thought that joining Neopets would be a fun and enjoyable place to have a virtual pet etc, well not any more now it seems to be all about the bottom line.

I actually like neocash, it gives more money to neopets so they don't charge a monthly fee. I won't ever buy any of it though.
