another question how do mobilephones/cellphones and telephones and all that sort of stuff work?

Someone presumably smarter than me put this together:
http://www.howstuffworks.com/cell-phone.htm
honestly that didn't help me but thats just me being me. I'm great at everything but reading through things properly

An epic level wizard does it.

(It's all about bouncing the signals off of transmitters and satellites, if that is what you mean?

And the hornets were too cool to hang with the bees. 8)

Random one:
Who the heck decided to heat popcorn to such a high temperature that it actually popped? Why did they think it was safe to eat the resulting fluffy mess? I know I would've ran away if one just exploded like that?

And who's bright idea was it to name the fear of long words "hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia"? o_O Because that, that is just evil.

Because, the Earth's orbit is actually 365 and 1/4 days long, so every four years the quarter days add up to a full day. :)

A genius. Popcorn is quite possibly my favorite snack food ever.

I'd guess it was an accident. I'm picturing the scene:

Guy 1: This campfire sure is nice and warm.
Guy 2: Yeah. It sure is. What's with this corn on the cob you brought? It's all hard and stuff.
Guy 1: Oh yeah. It is hard. It's pretty much inedible.
Guy 2: You're an idiot. *throws corn at Guy 1, but misses and it goes into fire*
Guy 1: Hey!
[moments later...]
*pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop*
*pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop*
Guy 2: woah!
Guy 1: Woah.
Guy 2: Weird. I wonder what this white stuff tastes like.
Guy 1: What the blueberry muffins are you doing?
Guy 2: Hey!! This white stuff's pretty tasty. Could use a little salt, but it's good! I think I'll call it "Delicious Popped up in the Fire Corn".
Guy 1: Dude - you're a genius! Mmmm. But PopCorn is easier to say.
Guy 2: You're right! PopCorn it is! *Munch munch munch*

...so, you're right - it was a genius! (according to Guy 1)

Popcorn is probably my 2nd favorite, right behind tortilla chips.
I wonder who thought of cooking rolled corn meal in boiling oil? I know it wasn't the campfire dudes.

It seems like wikipedia to the rescue again on the Popcorn question:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popcorn

Popcorn was first discovered thousands of years ago by the Native Americans. Some tribes believed that the popping noise was that of an angry god who escaped the kernel.

So you need to replace part 2 with:

Guy 2: woah!
Guy 1: Woah.
Guy 2: Listen! What's that sound?
Guy 1: Something's escaping from the kernel! it gone all white and turned inside out?!?!
Guy 2: What is it? What is it?
Guy 1: It must be the gods!!
Guy 2: So it's now holy corn? Do you think its safe to eat?

Ok, I admit that was lame, but I was trying to put off studying for my next paper for a few more minutes. Time to hit the books again :(
Warped Logic:

If truth if knowledge, knowledge is power, and power corrupts, then are the liars in the world really the good guys?

Well, it makes it easier to just count a new day ever four years (Imagine we didn't, now imagine that ever new year we waited six hours for 1st Jan, it would mess the clocks right up)

As for why Feb?
No idea, I personally don't get why 7 months don't have 30 days and the other five 31 to get rid of the silly Febuary has 28 days nonsense.

3) How long will it be until a major musical tour takes place with one of the supporting acts being a bunch of guys playing Guitar Hero or Rock Band on stage? Will they play their own music? Will they have to play on Expert Difficulty?
Apparently, it will not be long:
Aerosmith lets Guitar Hero players open for them
