I think that won't work. Try turning off cookies in your browser, then try to login to Neopets. See what happens? Can't do anything on NP without cookies. So if the hackers are really using cookie grabbers, TNT is going to have to change their cookies, maybe to include an encrypted notation for the URL of the computer that accepted the cookie.

Supposedly the exploit was being able to include javascript in the page, if it was then yes, it would be a problem as the computers would be doing everything correctly. I never got to see the actual exploit code, though, so I can't say if it really was that or if it got blown out of proportion by people who didn't know what they were talking about.

If you're talking about the WMF vunerability, then no, it's not a problem. That is a bug with one of windows' libraries.

I thought the cookie grabber thing had died down, but it seems to have just flaired up again. People on the help boards and insisting that everyone should avoid lookups and shops under the screennames dragainianpaintbrush and... some spongebob-based screenname.

*sigh* I want this to be over, darn it.

A programmer just posted on the Premium Charter Board that the grabbers were taken care of last week, but there are still people saying they're there.

Well, that's encouraging. I hope they post something like that in the news so the non-premium members know what's going on.

I can believe if they got the guy (or gal), but there are still problems out there. It just boils down to number of users. Even though the vast majority is good, the few bad apples still exist. Most of them don't try any 'grabber scams' until they see someone else do it and play copycat. Copycat crimes are usually worse than the original, at least in my humble opinion.
