Taylor Hicks won that season.
I think the talent stopped at Season 4.
Except he actually had talent. He just doesn't have the 'superstar looks' or the amazing vocals like say...Kelly, Carrie, or Clay, but he's unique. He can sing and perform. How would the show look if someone like Katharine won? I mean she just pales in comparison to Kelly Clarkson, and even Fantasia! (Plus her album sucks. Sorry, but it does.) I still think the real winner that season was Chris obviously.
I, personally, do not think he has any talent or will be around in the next two years or so. Plain and simple.
Chris has said in numerous interviews that he's tired of people saying he was robbed or should have won. He's far better off than Taylor ever had a chance to be- I mean, come on. Daughtry's album went platinum, and is still on the iTunes top ten album chart (even though it was released far before Kat and Taylor's albums; the latter of which is no longer on the top ten, the former is number 8 as compared to Daughtry's number 6). 'It's Not Over' is number four on the iTunes singles chart, and no singles from either Kat or Taylor are on the top ten. His album debuted at number two on Billboard charts, and peaked at number one.
He's fine.
In other news, Taylor is talented. He is just not as talented as he should have been to win the title. He can sing, he just can't sing as well as other contenders. If his hair had been blonde and he did not have seizures on stage, he would have been voted out long before the finale. And also, for the record... Kat's gorgeous, extremely talented, etc. But her album sucks anyway. Don't buy it.

I agree. I think that Kat is an amazing singer and that this album does her no justice at all. We'll just have to wait for the second one. On the other hand Taylor Hicks is ugh. 'Nuff said. As for Chris Daughtry, I was pleasantly surprised.
Also, should I do what I did last year and recap the whole show when the actual show begins? Y/N/M?

I was kinda disappointed with Kat's album, as well. There are a few good songs, though. I think it's mainly because Kat contacted her producers of her album mid-way through recording, and told them she wanted her album to sound younger to appeal to the younger audiences. The producers were more than happy to oblige, and they mixed a few of the songs up with "new, hip beats" and recorded other songs.
Nobody really stood out that much. I kind of like the Indian guy, the guy who looks like Jack Osborne, and Sundance, but I don't really remember most of the other people! I mean I never saw some of them before on the show!

I really wish they wouldn't put the results on Thursdays (for the top 24 until they get a top 12). For one, I have enough Thursday shows to watch (The Office AND Ugly Betty during that hour) but also the results shows are so stupid. They really could make them only 10 minutes but they stretch them out so much by saying "after the break" so much and showing all those stupid promotional ads for Ford and Coca-Cola every other commercial break. Plus, Idol will win in the ratings for Thursday - good for them, not for the other shows I'm watching. Oh well, maybe The O.C. series finale will get more viewers since it's after Idol. (I heard that House got 25 MILLION viewers after Idol a week or so ago?) </rant>
I really don't know what to expect. The boys > the girls this year again, but most of the girls I don't even remember!

House gets around 25 million per episode now. Due to it's lead-in by Idol.
These performances were sooooo boring tonight. It's only 9:15 now so it's not over, but wow, nobody has stood out so far. Sanjaya is about to perform, I like him.
Edit: Okay, Chris Sligh - First (and possibly only) good performance tonight.
Semi-OT, but you know how Chris mentioned Teletubbies and Simon responded to him about it or something? Google Simon Cowell and Teletubbies. He's responsible for the release of the album "A Teletubbies Christmas." XD
