Precisely. I would quit Neopets if it came to that, because then it's no longer fun. Too many reasons to get frozen as it is, but if it comes to getting frozen for blocking something I personally loathe, I'll take the ice with my soda, thank you.

But then weren't we told we wouldn't see this kind of ad in the first place? Or did that just apply to the pop-ups? Memory is soooo not working this week.
Amazing what one can come up with when one is given a cardboard box and a roll of duct-tape!

I don't like how the new toolbar messes up my shop, but I use Mozilla. Could this have something to do with it?

The user shop alignment is off for everyone right now, whether you use Mozilla or IE.

blackjack - it's not your browser - it's the shops. I use IE and they're messed up. There apparently were no restocks in the main shops last night, don't know about today. I'm going to guess? that it's something that's being worked on. Could be that the main shops are having the same items scattered all over the place problem.

As far as freezing people for covering the banner. I know it doesn't happen often, but I do know a few people who have had their lookups cleared for "bad html" for using the really long sidebar that covers everything. Same for covering any of your user stats (including shields).

That's why I ask if "hiding" the top ad would truly be allowed. And if so, re: snarkie's post (she's SO great!) where is it and how would this banner hidden code be used.

The main shops starting restocking again late last night. As far as I know, they're still restocking right now.

I was going to say. I KNOW I didn't download the toolbar. This is pretty cool looking. :)

as if my pc wasn't slow enough already! This slows down my PC even more. I hate everything including the clock. I already have 3 clocks in the room I am in and I don't need another! It just slows it down even more. Now, I use norton ad blocking so I don't get the ads but now I get a big black line on top of the screen and it looks really dum. I could not hate this any more!

The clock is great for restocking. The rest of this new layout can go for all I care, the clock stays.

Playing Bilge Dice is infuriating now. That's a game that requires a ton of page loads, and it was already slow to load because of all the images. It's even worse now that I have to load an ad banner, too. At least when I played before, I could remember where the card I wanted to pick was and click it before the picture loaded, but now the page forces me to wait for the ad banner to load before I can click a card. I can only imagine how all you poor Neoquest II players feel (I finished Neoquest I, but did not have the patience to sit through a zillion page loads again, even without the ad banner).

I don't even pay attention to ad banners. Does anyone? After five years of seeing them all over every site I visit, I completely tune them out now. I scroll down before I can even look at them. My issues are with how they slow page loading time. And the few I consciously did look at were all for other places on the site. What is the point in advertising things that are on your own website -- not to mention advertising them in two different places on the same page? That's just ridiculous. And they are way too busy. I don't need or want to see so much animation. I don't care how "cute" it is.

I don't really know anything about CSS and whatnot, but it is very possible to cover the bar entirely (with the exception of a single black line) judging by this lookup I found:

I don't know the person it belongs to, I just randomly happened to find it.

I like it, atleast its changed, not sure why it needed to wrap around up to the top but no big deal, I like the live clock alot, helps when trying to sync with neo now.

It is easy to get rid of the advert shockwave, and there wont be a line. Just type this into your css:

Code: Select all

.ban {DISPLAY: none}

or you could use:

Code: Select all

.ban {VISIBILITY: hidden}

see my lookup here

posted by Snarkie (i just edited this post because I found this)

Also, if anyone is curious, I've given the div that displays the flash banners a class called "banner" and the clock is "nst." Just set those classes to hidden in the CSS and they won't display on your userlookup. (It means editing your code, but it was the best way to make it really easy to hide on lookups.) So you should now be able to cover the flash with your own images and hide the clock with ease.

I don't know about anyone else at the moment but the side bar isn't loading at all for me now. It was fine earlier but now it's lagging up my page and the tool bar is just blank. :(

This is what the two lookups mentioned here look like to me in Firefox: really horrid. They may look great in IE, but this is why I hate that users can customize the page to this extent. :x

Yeah, I also use Firefox, but I look at userlookups in MyIE2 because otherwise *eyes cross*
