I have a really annoying virus/viruses on my computer, and I would like to know how to get rid of them! If there's a one use scan sorta thing, to tell me which files to delete, I'd love that!

(By the way, the things that are happeing are:

1. Annoying sounds(Sounds like a cricket chirping, or sometimes a lighsaber swishing through the air, don't know how it starts of goes away)
2. Ads popping up)

Err. The following are suggestions, if something gets broken, please don't blame me (although it should all be fine).
Make a system recovery point. If you don't know how to do that, post here or PM me and I will try to explain as best as I can.

Get CCleaner. It's a free tool for cleaning the registry of your computer (I assume you are using Windows). Click the registry button and keep fixing the errors until it doesn't show any more. Then click Extras, Autorun and disable everything that looks suspicious. Google the file names if you are not sure in any cases.

Next, get Spybot Search & Destroy. It's a free anti-malware tool and darn quick. Remember to let it download the most recent updates. Perform a full system scan (should take one hour at most) and let it delete everything it finds. Then report back.

I have used Spybot Search and Destroy and found that it was completely inadequate when dealing with viruses.

The program that I have (which is also free!) is called SUPERAntiSpyware. In all honesty, this program CLEANED out all the viruses in my computer ranging from trojans to just random spyware. I definitely think this is a good program to have when trying to get rid of viruses :)

Oh and CCleaner is also something which should help your computer. I use it as well :)

It's not so much viruses as spyware/malware/adware.
All of the above are good. I definitely suggest CCleaner.
And adding to the suggestions, MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. :)

I second that. But I find Lavasoft AdAware pretty good.

Seconded on AVG. Just set it to run every time you start your computer. No need really for periodical checks if you do this. But it really is an awesome little program. :)

I knew this would come in handy someday http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic58138.html

It's basically a multi-step guide to cleansing your whole computer. It uses every single program listed here so far and then some. I've done this guide and before and I would say it worked perfectly.
