I had a dead iguana in my freezer for a few months... poor Iggy. He died of cancer, so we put him in the freezer to wait until we could bury him.

Regardless, it's a little disturbing. Personally I think it's better off.
They should stuff it and put it up in a museum!.

That's something I would have a problem with.

If you're going to use it to advance science and help other animals, fine. But if you're going to make it a stuffed animal and shove it in a place where it will mostly likely be mocked continuosly, you're sick.

Why do you think the picture was posted on the internet? The cat is dead, and frankly, it's an oddity. Why shouldn't it be on display in a science museum or something?

Most museums are places of research anyways. Scientific and historical museums normally have quite a few artefacts and specimins that aren't viewable by the public and that are not on display. This specimin would probably be kept in a jar and used for science later; either that or skinned/disected and then stuffed and kept in storage.

When I said museum I wasn't refering to a freak show or something-- more of a Science museum like someone else stated. Putting the poor little thing in some "Ripley's Believe it or Not" scenario would be sick.

If you were horribly disfigured, would you want to be stuffed and hung in a museum, regardless of whether you had died or not?

well... my dad says these things happen in humans, so its probably possible to happen in cats and this probably isn't a hoax... but that is freaky... I want one!

It's a cat. And ya know, there are some people who do send their bodies off for research after they die. There's some terrifying art exhibit of chopped up people plastified floating around right now (REAL PEOPLE!) who are dead, that are on display and it's all done through donations (or it's supposed to have been, can't remember if that ones the one with the controversy or not). There are museums out there specifically for this thing, for people who have physical dissabilities.
And a lot of these people have said it's OK for themselves to be studied after death. So.
My heart for example, not the best heart in all the world, when I die, if it could help future generations, i'd be more then happy to give up my disfigured (lets behonest, thats what it is), and defected heart up for science, to be put on display if it would at all help future generations. And don't try the whole "it's a heart, not your face" thing. We could argue that my face is strange because my skull is so oblong, and thusly i'm disfigured, and no i'd have no problem with my head being on display either (this way... i'd always be watching!)

Just so you know, I plan on donating my body to science. They can do whatever they want to me when I'm dead.

Ah, you're probably talking about Body Worlds. I saw both the 1st and 2nd exhibits when they were in Los Angeles. It was freaky beyond belief at first but after the initial shock factor, it truly was fascinating. Even though I was an advanced biology major at the time, I was amazed at the sizes of various organs and certain blood vessels. Crazy big.

...Which is a good reason those people donated their bodies to this cause. They're educating others through an unconventional method that allows us to see things we normally would never ever see (how many people are going to actually dissect a human?).

Likewise with the kitten. It wouldn't be on display for the freak factor, but rather to give a majority of the people--who would never encounter such a rare occurance--an opportunity to see something so unique.

(No worries for those of you against that...I highly doubt the kitten will end up in a museum.)
