wow, thats sad.... when my sister went to guatemala, her group almost got struck by lightning. she said that it split around them because they were grounded by the rubber tires on the truck.

If there is any way he could have known about the thunderstorm, it would be his own fault and I would not care.


But.

If I understand your post, he got struck by lighting from a storm miles away, so there is no way he could have known... It's sad that this happened, and it's awful for the family. I hope the boy lives..

A boy by me got struck by lightening and died whilst I was in France. It was quite a shock

I read this story.. or was it a movie?.. about this really dumb lady who went out walking her dogs in the middle of a storm with an umbrella, and got struck about 3 times and only went out after the third hit, and then she couldnt move and her dogs saved her life. But I think it was false..
Also, I saw this thing on tv a while ago where this guy got struck by lightning while putting on his shoes, in his HOUSE, and the shock of it sent him flying across the room, and cooked his shoes into the flood. And then he had a beyond life experience where the first thing he thought was that he was better looking than that... At least the story was something like that.
I know a girl who sits outside in stormy weather on the metal water trough to watch and make sure her horses are ok... A bit dumb, especially since its in a large feild.

GO. I can't stress it enough - it's a hard walk, but if you're in good shape and you're an experienced 'packer, you'll have a great 10 days in the mountains. And, of course, you get to do a service project (usually trail rehab) which is always nice.

Tell the same to your brother. It's expensive to get there, but it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience, one of the big three (Jamboree, Philmont, Eagle) that a scout will ever have.

Last year the people from Lynfield Collage came to our school to share 'chemistry' (errr.....I dunno the word) with us. One of them was a electric chain. Somebody had to hold their hands on this orb and the next person had to hold their free hand. There was a giant chain of the whole class (except for Timothy, he had heart problems so he couldn't do it) holding hands, and when the volenteer touched it we all felt it in our wists. A strange feeling.

Anyway, it's a shame to hear that he was struck by lightning, though he'll have a really cool story to tell others if he lives. From the sound of it he probably will.

You live in Florida, right? From what I understand that's the lightning capital of the country (or world, I dunno), meaning tons of lightning occurs there. Sure the chances are a bit higher but it's still rare.

Yea I live in Central Florida and it is the lightning capital of the world and also he is now out of ICU but still unconcious.They are saying he's responding better to pain stimulus and he has good chances of surviving.
