bascially a combination is left-right-left for most school lockers... but this one is 3 or 4 numbers, and can start with either a left or a right .... that last part i missed but already sent the answer. : /

fungi: they're _dial_ numbers... but I imagine that they can repeat. A dial lock is based on the turning motion of the chambers.

Does a locker open directly when you have the right kombination och do you have to press a button or something?

well the lockers I'm used to have a lever you lift/turn to open the locker. If the combo's not right, it's prevented. Similarly a vault with a dial lock would have a big lever to twist to open it, assuming you got the combo right. (we have a safe like this at work..)
