Ramthura slowly opened bleary eyes. The house felt strange. He prowled around for awhile before cursing wildly and charging out into the garden. His breath caught in his throat as he saw the tomb. As he tentatively approached, he silently thanked Iaran for the markers she had left. He closed his eyes for a few seconds, breathing deeply. A thought struck him. After a few more seconds he opened eyes that had seemed to become orbs of fire. He ran into the tomb, trying to ignore the shadows that danced at the edges of his eyes and the ghostly hands clutching at him.

(I said my 12-year-old brother was immature, but I knew that not all 12-year-olds are immature. Or something like that...)

Kaila paused, hearing a noise, and turned around slowly. She jumped back when she saw the glowing fire eyes, then realised who it was. She breathed out in relief. "Oh, its just you, Ramthura. Next time at least give us some warning! We're about there, so we needed your help."

Darin had a look of petrification on his face. It seemed and effort of pure will for him to place one foot infront of the other. He placed a hand on Yelgan's back for comfort. The dog prowled down the stairway, his teeth barred and growling ferally.

"I'm sorry." He hung his head slightly, then let out a strangled gasp. He was wracked by the sheer magnitude of the power that flooded into him, far beyond his current limitations. He was completely wreathed with fire that twined along his limbs. It lashed out in whip-like tendrils. "Darin," he managed to choke out. "What's it called when ... liquid fire is coming up ... up through cracks in the earth." Small crackles of flame shot out of his mouth as he spoke. He couldn't believe he couldn't remember what it was called, but he remembered the absolute inadequacy that it had been described in. Almost no one would ever experience it the way he did.

"Umm, I think it's called an eruption," Darin said, "It's like earthquakes, but the ground dosen't just break open, lava comes out too."

Yelgan barked sharply, calling their attention forwards. The stairway had ended in a stone door.

Iaran watched Ramthura in fear, then spun around when Darin announced the door. Running forward, she gasped at the large symbol on the stone door. Reaching up a hand, she gently touched the stone in the centre with her finger. Immediately a pair of stone arms locked around her and she let out a strangled scream. The door slowly broke down, the shards reforming into a large gargoyle like creature with massive wings. Behind it, a large clear room was luminated in an eerie pink light. Iaran struggled in the guardian's arms, and screamed as it threw her across the room towards the staircase leading from the entrance.

Runa gasped as she saw the door collapse in front of Iaran, and staggered backwards as a piece of stone hit her in the face as the guardian emerged. The ball of light she had been forming in her hands went out instantly, and Laruna, unable to speak, doubted that she'd be able to form it again. She froze in horror as Iaran was thrown against the wall, all the while wanting to do something but not knowing what. Fumbling frantically with her hands, she tried desperately to remember the runes to create a powerful ball of light, but couldn't focus. The guardian, after dealing with Iaran, had now turned its attention to her, and was advancing slowly, yellow eyes locked with hers.

Darin gulped and looked at Yelgan, the dog's normally blue eyes now seemed to glow with a green light. The husky nodded and Darin bobbed his head in return. He stretched his arms out to his side, "Mother," he said, "Give me strength."

With a savage snarl Yelgan lept forwards and slammed into the gargoyle, knocking it off it's course towards Runa. Dog and gaurdian slammed into the staircase wall, causing dust and pebbles to rain down on their heads.

Kaila backed up, frightened. The air around her bagan to swirl angrily, and she nodded. She directed it closer to Iaran, hoping it would destroy the Gargoyle.

Oh my GOODNESS!

Iaran's eyes flew open, and she found herself crumpled against a stone wall. The others were doing their best in fighting off the guardian, but she knew it wasn't enough. Not yet anyway.

She carefully pulled herself upwards, and then spotted the stone on a perfect cushion sitting on a pedestal. Glancing over at the guardian, she took her chances and sprinted into the glorious pink room. As soon as she entered the room she felt an immense pressure surround her, and the guardian re-assembled its falled stones to make itself stand upright again. "Who dares enter the room of the Pyschii?" It boomed, the stone in its chest shone a deep red.

Iaran forced her head upwards and met its gaze, "I... am Iaran... descendant of Psylos... representative of the.... Pyschii...." she forced out her words, and once she spoke turned back around and grabbed the stone before the Guardian had time to reply. She knew that it would not believe her, and the only way to defeat it, would be with the power of the stone.

As soon as she touched the stone she felt the room's dazzling pink glow leave it. And all that energy flowed into her fingertips. Her pink hair sparkled with new brilliance and her green eyes twinkled merrily. A long white robe surrounded her, and a dark purple staff materialised and wrapped itself around the stone.

The guardian bowed low, and spoke, "Forgive me, mistress Iaran. I am at your service."

((O_o.... Yay! I finally thought of something good. Now we can ride around on a big stone gargoyle for a while. He might have to leave us at a certain point, or something.

I also thought that we should all get weapons once we gain our stone, and our clothes should change a little.))

As she saw that the Guardian was now their ally, Kaila called off her mini-whirlwind.

"Good. Now we have the first stone. Only six more to go... I wonder what one is next?"

Slightly bored now, she played with the air around her. It gently flowed over her hair, blowing it into her face.

"That's good," Ramthura managed to gasp. "How is he at stopping volcanic eruptions?" Flames whipped and whirled around him. A branch of flamed slammed into a tomb walled which shuddered. "How are the rest of us at doing so, for that matter?"

"I... can try..." Kaila said softly, as if she was unsure of herself. She whispered something.

The air around them tensed suddenly, and then loosened, except for in the places where the cracks were.

"I... think that should do it."

(Sorry about that, Tuna. You'll have the eruption later, now is not yet the time. )
