When I was looking about for information on Beta Fish when I wanted one there was this account about a lady who put her beta fish in a larger tank, there, it did nothing but bury itself in a corner. When she moved it back to its smaller bowl, it was happy again.

Hmm...that's odd. My betta Houshu was all excited when I first got him...

Give him a few days and see if he gets better. He might just be shy.

Ok thanks..I'm still worried about it not eating..I may try putting it in a smaller thing....actually I can put the divider in to make it smaller.I'm going to try to get a pic :D

I'm working on uploading pictures of both:)

and another thing...everyonce in a while my new fish (Fancy) kinda opens it's mouth and the fin thing that they use to make their self bigger comes out a lil bit like it's coughing or something.

EDIT2:

Fireball:Image
Fancy(the fish that stays in one spot):ImageThis was the best pic

It's not coughing - he's making himself bigger. If Fancy can see the other fish, then he'll start acting agressive and asserting himself. He'll calm down after a while when he realizes that the new fish can't get to where he is.

But you see....it's just for a second and the fin dosen't go all the way out.

I just love beta fish. Fireball is more active though

It doesn't have to. Sometimes half-threats are just as effective body language as going all-out.

put them so they can't see one another. your new one may feel threatened. i suggest having them in completely different rooms.

also, you may need to experiment with food. i fed mine brine shrimp (gross) and he lived for YEARS. better than the flaky stuff.

Ok goodie! Maybe I'll get another one. I bought one at walmart once, but the one we have here quit selling fish I think. The one I had lived for two years, and one day it was just dead. I don't know what was wrong, if it had a fungus or something. I don't know a lot about fish. But it seemed fine and then it was dead. So maybe it just died. I always bought a jug of spring water. Just cheap stuff, that costs like a dollar for a jug. But it is good clean water with no chlorine in it, and it was a small tank, so I could get about two fills from a jug. I'd change the water ever so often, when it started to start looking funny. I am afraid of ordering fish through the mail, How does that work anyway? I am afraid I'd get a dead fish!

You still need to treat the water to make sure it's absolutely safe. And you need to change water every two weeks, because you can't see the chemicals that really damage the fish. It's not hard to do, just prepare a jug of water the night before you change it.
