Layering Images

#1 Post by OmniIcyshelf »

Since they removed the ability to link to CSS pages and direct on-page layering, has anyone thought of any other ways to do it? And if, so, would they PM the suggestions to me? I used to have a "Samurai" kacheek and a "Ice" pteri, and if anyone still remembers, hrobi's Antorcha used to have quite a nice graphic that made her look unique- And without image layering, none of this is possible any longer. You could make your pet look like anything without having to buy a paint brush that would just make your pet look like a lot of other people's anyway. It's a minor issue, but I think it's a better feature to keep than to get rid of just because some scammers would use it to advertise a "Special Paint Brush" (especially since the CSS is rather inconvienient to and difficult for beginners to set up in the first place). Post comments here; I'd like to see what the general public on PPT thinks of this.

Anyone who's dumb enough to not look in the Rainbow Pool to find this "special" paint brush deserves to get scammed. -_-

Meh... I was gonna use that on a couple of my pets... *shakes fist at TNT* Grrrrrr!

I don't think image layering should have been disallowed. Scammers will eventually find ways around it anyway; we might as well be able to use it.

Although, it annoyed me a bit, because my positioning was always thrown off by neomails. :P

I just oversized the covering images and made the background black so that browser font size changes and neomails wouldn't throw off the positioning. The BD picture always got to me, though, as I didn't know how to cover it without covering the battle record.

unfortunately, I don't know of a way to do that image layering. And even if I did, I wouldn't try using it - it was disabled for a reason. Once again I think we can "thank" the scammers and cheaters for Neo doing away with that ability.

People were using different pictures and covering/changing their pet stats - that seemed to be mainly a BD problem. Someone with a very strong pet would challenge someone with a weaker pet, I guess for the heck of it? But the strong pet's stats wouldn't be true - they'd be covered so the pet looked weaker. Then the other person, seeing that would accept and get beaten bad.

As far the the personalized color images, I guess Neo must have gotten complaints/reports from people. It's all well and good and very easy for most of us to look at a "unique" pet with someone claiming they have a 'secret' pb and think, there's not a pb in that color ... this person must be trying to scam. But there are newer people who may not think or know to go look at the rainbow pool or the wall of shame to read up and be aware of things.

If things keep up this way, I can guarantee you we will be able to "thank" the scammers and jerks on the site for losing the free enterprise system, accumulating toxic waste, El Nino, Global Warming, and Weapons of Mass Destruction, and every aspect of the site that had any fun element would have disappeared to be replaced with billions of obscure unwritten rules and sponsors to fill in the place where great games that could -possibly- (but haven't acutally) be exploited were replaced with cheap sponsor games that look and play crappily. If I find a way, I'll continue to layer images because there is no rule written in the Terms of Service stating that players are NOT allowed to do so. Therefore, I could constantly argue this case until they did actually add a rule; however, if they made it de facto, I'd be screwed.
