For those topics one could describe as the forum equivalent of a twinkie. Word games, forum contests and giveaways are all the rage here.

Trying to see which style the people like more. The 'secretive' way that i used for round 1 was new to me and everyone else. This is the way i have been 'taught' (so to say) to play this game. *shrug*

Well there are basically 3 ways to do vote:
1. PM votes to MC and not display them until the end. I think that is a cool thing to try, but it really changes strategy. I probably prefer the more public way of doing it.
2. Post votes in the topic thread. MC periodically posts a summary. This ends up being the way that I've run most of the recent games I've MC'd so obviously I like that option.
3. All "official" votes must be by PM which the MC will periodically post publicly. In a way this involves the most strategy and can lead to someone saying in the topic "I am voting for X" when really no vote is sent or the real vote is for "Y." But there are two main problems with this method: One, it is significantly more work for the MC who has to be really careful in large games not to miss votes. Two, if the MC can't be online to update near the time of execution you can have situations where players aren't able to timely get the info that they need.

I am in favour of method 1, like Matt and Hunter. I think it encourages backstabbing and increases the element of secrecy and paranoia in the game. I don't see how method 3 differs from method 1 though, since with method 1 you could still lie about who you are voting for in the thread, thus they areessentially the same.

Well... we'll see how method 2 turns out and act accordingly
Method 3 I would update the votes periodically, as I will in this game. Its just, strategically, a new way to play the gam

I'm confused, so which way will the voting be carried out?
And when will the game start? I can barely wait to start playing...

Just read the rules on the front page.
You'll be posting votes in this style
Vote: ScottNak
And periodically, I'll come and give a vote update on a public thread. The votes will be updated as I can do it. So you'll be informed (as best as possible) to the current vote count as it stands. You'll aslo see the votes IN THE THREAD. No more PMs unless you are sending me a list
And the game will be starting later tonight. It doesn't seem like there will be any more players... so i'll start up on my tablet.

Have we already recieved PM's on what role we're playing?
Thu Oct 14, 2004 10:35 pm
Not yet. I'm currently using my handy dandy random number generator to spit out your roles. Everything will be given by 5:00 tonight...
btw, if i ever spit out a time, its NST/PST.

I'm sneaking on my mum's computer. I can go on when she's out.

But only then. My laptop's broken.

Woo hoo 20 minutes until the first suspensful decision has been made, um, hmm, I guess that's all *starts to wander off*

*doesn't pay attention and wanders into a wall*

I hope this is the right thread for me to post in. If not I'm sure my new stalkee will come around and point it out to me.
Gah! That round was so hard for me! I wanted to lay low so the baddies wouldn't notice me and I come back from class one afternoon to find myself prime suspect! I spent most of that afternoon trying to get myself out of the cross hairs. Almost succeeded too... If I had managed to change one more vote I might have had the opportunity to dream last night. But who knows, with all the attention I was drawing I might have been at the top of the mafia and wolf hit list. Anyway...
Popcorn time! Now I can sit back in heaven with my little angel wings and watch all these little people kill each other.

I already have my list of suspects that I'm willing to talk about with anyone dead or not in the game. Via PM of course, far from the prying eyes of those still alive.
Articfox, Dawn2 want any popcorn?
