Lina Blade for instance isn't here anymore, she was one of my favorite moderators.

*kicks self for not noticing/truly comprehending that* Lina's gone? She was so nice! She was the one who indirectly directed me to the Forums (long story).

I heard about that. I guess she's too busy to mod here anymore... :(

I talked to Lina not too long ago.
I miss her... a lot. *nods* She was a good egg.
She's busy with school, and with her job, and with generally being cool.
So it's allright.
Although it may hurt at times, people move on. Linas activity on PPT was slowly winding down even before the forums went down, and she never really rejoined. And to be honest, thats how (if ever) I leave, i'd like to go. She's still remembered as a wonderful person, and a great mod. So... *smiles* I'm happy she's moved on if it makes her happy, which I think it does.

If you care to give me an example of this, I'll accept your statement as fact. However, most threads that have been pointed to me personally I have seen have been all out flaming. In addition, I have respected the decisions of the staff in interpreting the fine line between argument and flame.

I've heard "family oriented", but not "kid's site." In either case, it's only to keep things around here relatively clean because of the general infulence of some of the subjects of the boards. It's been this way for some time now, I've never seen it as a cause to be a problem.

I always enjoy these threads. For one, the members saying they are leaving invariably come back. And if they dont, it means they made a wise decision in their lives and found something more productive to do with their time. I hold no illusions about the PPT Forums being anyone's reason for living. But the door will always be open if they need it.

And I do like these topics. Ive seen a lot of them over the past couple of years, and it always makes me laugh when I remember how in those "Golden Times" that people so fondly recall, these topics were still posted. People will always pine for those heady days from their youth. One cant help but be slightly charmed when that youth which seems so many moons ago was often only a matter of months in reality. Its a funny thing perception.

But actual changes do of course occur.Things change. People change. Needs and wants change. The PPT Forums have changed, and will continue to do so. Many people dont like this change, or just about any other form for that matter. Everybody craves stability in their lives. Young people more than most. We know this and we do our best to be a stable community. We dont, however, become stagnant. Change is necessary. Sometimes it is unforseen change, but we usually find a way to turn it to our advantage.

I personally leave the forums every night. I just come back again in the morning. If you dont want to, then dont. Either way, thank you for your membership. If you change your mind, we'll be here when you do.

Again, I do not know about this forum. But I do not believe that the age of a person should matter. Some things might seem inappropriate for children under 13. But then again, don't they need parental permission to have their account activated here?

Nope. That is to say, we dont require proof of this. Our T.O.S covers that nicely. Get your facts right there,Skippy. It will stop you looking quite so stupid <3

In regards to the community, if you want to feel it more, you got to get out there and start chatting to other members. Get to know them and vwala! ^_^ I chat to refgular members here every day and have got to know some of them very well. You can too.

I agree. This is what makes forums, and basically any website where you interact with other people, fun.

Now here we can agree.

Oh, and you'll all have to forgive me if I dont try and stop people being nice.

Here endeth the lesson.

Heh, sorry. I was just assuming things.

And I am very ill indeed, I feel like I am going to explode and horrible things are happening and so I was too lazy to check and see if anything I said actually is true. :( [/excuses]

I agree with you Ammy, about people being too nice. Especially in the art board- if someone tries to critique someone else's art, they get a warning, a lecture, or both. Just my opinion on the matter.

As for the forums not being the same, I also agree with you there. And I have been out there and chatting, and many people can verify that. I'm not going to say any more about this, but being out there and chatting is not always a good thing.

I don't hate the forums or anything, and know I'm likely to get argued with, but that's my honest opinion.

I hate to disagree with you... but...
Considering the art board is one of the boards I do mod (and I do so with a fair amount of pride) I have a feeling that I know this.
Most people who try a proper critique do not get such a warning. But those who do 'critique' a piece and only slam it, will get a warning.
And I severely doubt that anyone who gets such a warning read the tutorials that Marissa and myself wrote. I am in my second year of my BFA (Bachellor of Fine Arts), I live off of critique. It makes or breaks my own work depending on how people react to it (and to a certain degree to how I can defend it).
Kiss and Kick Dawn. Kiss and Kick.

I miss Lina, she actually liked me!

For me, the old PPT was better, but that's just my opinion and things move on. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter, does it.

Does anyone remember how general chat was during the war? Personally, i think it's like a watered down version of that everyday, obviously much less vigorous though. I don't visit general chat anymore so it doesnt affect me but again, thats how I feel.

As for the art - If you don't like a peice of work someone has done, why shouldn't you be able to say so? If you can back up any criticism you make with evidence and suggestions for improvement, why is it wrong? A 'you must always praise no matter what' mentality strikes me as somewhat similar to the way a lot of schools have removed prizes and winners from sports day events so there are no losers.

I also think an important thing is the migration of people to the IDB forums - Most of the battledomers on PPT were intelligent, successful people who contributed enormously to the site, with their experience, knowledge and attitude, because face it, you have to be a quality person (generally) to be a successful neopets player. And now most of them are gone, and for me that's a shame. PPT doesn't seem to tightly-knit these days.

But in the end, it's only a forum, and forums change, for better or worse.

I had a long war with someone about this on PPT, when I first posted my tutorial on critique.
If you can back up what you say, go ahead and say it; but do it in a manner that is appropriate. Simply saying "Thats bad" or "Ugly" or "That sucks" doesn't cut it. If you say "Well you need to work on cleaning up your pre colored sketch"... or "I think the coloring could have been better here here and here..." Go ahead. But just post something nice along with it. You have to remember that in every piece of work, theres always got to be something good.
If you just slam someones piece of artwork without saying anything nice at all, and they reply to you in a not so kind manner, then it creates a bit of a problem for both you, the other person and the staff. I don't like seeing flames (as most people can attest to, and agree with). And comments that could lead to flames are dealt with.
Artwork is a "You like it Or "you don't" thing. And although I do agree that people learn from being told whats wrong with their work, I don't believe that it's a healthy environmnet if all you ever hear is criticism and no compliments.
Likewise, I do not like it when people continually praise someones artwork because I do not feel that you better a person by doing so. It's a fine line. Which is why I like to use the Kiss and kick method. Something that could be worked on in a good piece of work, or something thats good in a mediocre piece of work.
I don't... really understand your analogy to the sports events thing. Because the gallery is not a competition (unless you count PPTMAC). And anyways... PPTMAC is judged by myself or Marissa, and i'd like to think that the both of us are qualified in judging it. If you wanted a major blow out of a competition artwise on PPT, you'd have to split everyone into age groups and then into categories.

However, if you ever want a critique on your work that doesn't have anything nice in it, you can PM me and ask. I wouldn't be so happy in doing so (and i'd probably slip a compliment or two in there somehow), but I could write a fair bit on most everything thats posted in the gallery.

No, you can not *stomps foot* leave PPT! There's no one as obsessed with Shaman King as you! Besides, you're yet to use the set I made you! (of course, I'm yet to deliver it to you.)

AMMYAMMYAMMY-CHAAAAAAAN! STAY! -ties Ammyammyammy-chan to a wall- We can't have you leaving!

Sigh. I came three years ago (if my memory does not fail me). I think this place has rather much deteriorated from those days back when. The community was much smaller (and closer), and everyone was nice.
