... Video phones for your house?

You might get them in other countries but i've never EVER seen them here (australia). Its like really logical thing to have! In the science fiction movies they have them... lol

And they HAVe to be easier to make than camera phones (mobiles) because you cna make them huge! It wouldnt matter! And a really big screen to! Its silly, they should start making them.

Anyone know why they don't?>

Does anyone have any other things that they think we should be able to get but cant?

I assume it has something to do with the fact that a video telephone would be more like tele-conferencing than anything else. Other than that, you may also find that in some circumstances the phone will only accept televisation from one side and then wait for a response from the other - really tedious. Not everyone is going to buy one either which may cause problems and perhaps the sheer cost of production is also one of the reasons why nobody has made them here *shruggs* Either way I'm not bothered.

That, and phone lines can only carry so much data at a time - the entire telephone system would have to be rewired for whatever country you want.

They're not worth it. Just get DSL, a webcam, and a microphone.

Which is what I do often, except usually instead of using microphones, we actually use the phone to talk to eachother while camming.

Though, the video phone concept isn't all that appealing to me, especially because when I'm on the phone, I prefer to either, pace around the room, or sit in the closet in the dark. I am strange.

Yeah, sitting staring at a monitor isnt appealing..and sometimes I walk around too...

There's also the case of security, not everyone is gonna want a stranger calling them up and seeing what they look like.

I say it's because when I answer the phone, I usually don't want to talk to the person so I lie about what I'm doing. If I say, "Oh, I'm on my way out the door..." and they see me in my jammies and slippers, it kind of throws a big bucket of water over my flaming excuse.

Hmmmmm you mean Id actually have to tidy my house instead of pretending Id tidied it?!?! Doesnt sound too good to me, plus I wouldnt be able to walk around talking to someone I hate sitting still when Im on the phone and Im usually doing a million things at once so wouldnt appeal to me.

Oh no what if my boyfriend phones when I have a huge spot! eek!
