Okay, hi everybody! I'm pretty new around here, but I was still hoping you could help! I'm doing an article for journalism and I'm writing about how teenagers live around the world. So if you live anywhere other than US or Canada could you please tell me some interesting things about your country and the way you and your friends live? It would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Some things that I'm looking for are:
What is popular (aka, fads)?
What do you do for fun?
What's school like (does everyone go to a school that has uniforms, etc)? What foods do you eat?
What kind of delicacies are there?
What's the weather like?
What kind of music does everyone listen (or the majority)/ what bands are popular?
What do you wear?

Well, I live in Canada but I lived in Europe many times therefore I could help you with this article.

Living in Europe! Denmark to be exact!

The schools were awfully close, within walking distance. The schools began from 8:00am to 1:00pm and after school my friends and I would go to an after school club. Everyone used to go there and all we did there was play pool, watch movies, play video games etc... Every now and than, the club went on trips to Copenhagen, Forests -- fun stuff like that.

Cars were not really a necessity because everyone took buses to where they needed to go but if you needed to travel long distances, cars were useful.

The clothing there apparently were far ahead of north american clothing --according to my girl cousins. Like, I bought something from Europe and I wore it in a Canadian school (Once I moved back to Canada) and everyone loved my shirt.

Oh, cans were not really popular there. Instead, people bought small glass bottles of coke, pepsi etc... They were very popular.

There was also a bike pathway on every road. It would be like this:

However, this is all from a year or two in Denmark. There are some users on PPT from there, perhaps they'll add more to my story!

I'v been living is Israel for the past 4 years... And as far as I can tell, it is somewhat different from life in the US.
But i'm not very good at explaining... So if you could set up a few questions, i'd be glad to answer them.

You'd have to be a wee bit more specific.

I was in Paris for one week.

Here is how they lived:

They spoke french.
They had bakerys all over.
They had stuff released there before in Canada/Usa (SmartCar)
They did have Chinese food.
Statues are all over Paris.
You can't walk on some grass in Paris.
They live on taking time on their work.
They have a subway.
They have shops almost everywhere.
More small buildings.

In Switzerland.

They spoke german.
CHOCOLATE STORES EVERYWHERE!
They released stuff in there before in Canada/Usa. (Yo-Yo Mega)
They have children stores, unlike Paris.
It is very hard to get something in English to watch on TV.
(But for some reason they did get stuff in english there)
They have very fancy houses. (Marble stairs.....)
Pingu is the top childrens show there.

(Oh shoot, I just saw you said teenagers, that is life of normal people in Paris and Switzerland.)

LIFE OF A TEENAGER IN SCOTLAND!!!!Well, it's boring. There are 3 sort of "Factions". The Neds (talk in slang and drink and wear trackies and go "YOL'T MAN!!!" all the time. Check the Internet for more info), the Skaters/Mosher/Goth alliance and the Geeks. Then there are those left over who are the minority. Life is abysmal. It always rains. It's always cold.

New Zealand:

- Polarized into Sporty and Other categories
- Polarized into Severely homophobic and other
- Everyone has the internet
- Mobile phone texting just keeps getting popular
- Almost everyone has mp3 players or Ipods

Actually, you forgot the trendys, and the wannabe skaters and wannabe goths. Infact, if you look closer, there's many different groups (you just don't notice them as much in the midst of trackies and hoop earings). I swear that one giant evil ned started this whole thing and threatened to 'hook' anyone who didn't wear burbery.

Plastic, plastic. Glass would almost be insane.

I can tell you quite a lot about both Finnish and Belgian youth, just that I'd prefer if you'd ask some questions which I could answer

But to add something, just from the top of my head I can tell you this about Finland:

- As we are the home country of the Nokia mobile phone... well, lets just say that every frickin' person has a mobile phone of some sort. Thos who haven't are regarded at as very strange
- Lots of forest all around the country, us Finns appreciate the nature and wildlife a lot.
- No, there are no polar bears walking around on the streets here, and no, we do not have everlasting winter. In fact, summers tend to get rather hot. Oh and we have the midnight sun at summertimes as well
- Finnish kids usually get a very good education.

And that's all I can think of right now.

Well be as insane as it is, coke bottles (made of glass) are sold there. I always drank them at our after school club and bought some for home. They're common.

England

Dogs are purple over here. We also have an annual clog throwing contest, and it's really cool because the winner gets to kiss the judge! Also it rains so much here we're underwater, and every morning you look out of your window and there's fishies!

Its so true. You know, when you think about it, you have to look pretty hard to find a sane person in some places in Scotland. Its sad. Its also sad that I can't get buses after certain times in the day because they will be overrun by neds *sighs*. But I suppose its ok really, just wear running shoes when you go out so when you hear " hoy you there " you can get out of there pretty fast.
