Heh. Well, what I did is I took a photo I had of my niece (professionally done by someone else), selected the flower she's holding, reverse-selected the whole thing, and b&wed it. I think it's kinda cute (But then again, she's my niece. :P ). Any comments/questions?

Awww, she's adorable! And making the photo black and white is a nice touch, it really makes the rose stand out.

I like it a lot! You niece is adorable!

One of the things you might do (you really don't have to because it looks great as is) is recolor the rose a little bit so it is pinker. You could make it look like you started with a black and white photo and colored in the rose by lightening the pink and perhaps using some kind of filter to make it look like you used water colors on the photo.

But once again you really don't need to do this I'm just suggesting it because I took 4 years of photography classes and when I look at photos, I instantly look for things that I can do to play around with them.

I'm finally back for the summer, although hopefully I'll spend a little more time away from this screen.

I'm not going to lie, as I don't like kids: so no, I don't think she's cute.

BUT the picture itself is nice, the colors on the flower add that little extra to the pic :)

I find your neice adorable, she looks very cute. As for your editting, I believe you did a swell job. The rose looks professionally editted, just like one made from the companies that do senior photoes. Very, very nice work.

Hmm....thanks for the advice/comments.

So hyperbutterfly, you're suggesting something more like this?

I think I liked the red one better, of the two.

Kinda, let me dig up an example because I'm thinking of a certain style of photography that is really popular. It is especially done with kids holding flowers in a similar fashion.

Edit: What I was thinking of is a style of photography done by a woman named Kim Anderson, she does really good work you might want to google image search her name to see more of her work (http://images.google.com/images?q=Kim+A ... gle+Search). Anyway, this is the style I was talking about:

She uses really sublte colorization on a b&w photo and achieves this really soft, whimsical feeling. She also works almost exclusively with pictures of children which contributes to that.

Edit again: The image doesn't seem to be showing up, here's a hyperlink: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/h ... zation.bmp

Yeah...I've seen a bunch of her work. My teacher has some up in the classroom. It's pretty darn good. :P

Well, thank you for the advice. I may try something later when I have better picture to work with. *wanders off to ponder this*
