Browsers at NeoPets
Moderator: Moderators
I got Firefox yesterday and I love it so far. I'm using it just for Neopets, though, because I'm so used to IE for everything else. I like it on Neopets for two reasons:
1. Tabbed windows, which are awesome if I need to have lots of windows open for shopping or contests
2. Adblock. No banners, no ad buttons.
I guess it's also useful if you want to transfer a pet or something, because you can be logged into two accounts, one in IE and one in Firefox. I don't transfer pets, though.

Exactly. I use it on some other sites (such as ppt, mainly other forums, and some image sites), and it works great. Ive been using Firefox this way since I had trouble viewing my source code (I believe it was a few months back), and I've loved using it on neopets so far. Sometimes I will be doing something, and then some random link shows up in my tabbed windows section, usually akin to what I am browsing, just like a different link.
ex. viewing someones lookup, and after awhile I look at my tabs and there is a tab of there shop, that I know I didnt make. (this only happens once in awhile though)

I use Firefox, and it is far superior to IE in every aspect, though it has some problem with Flash, especially on Neo. It loads faster than IE for me and it has a pop up blocker (though with SP2 now IE also has a pop-up blocker which is quite good too). THe tabbed browsing is another main feature why I use it too, you can open a link in a new tab just by pressing your scroll button. Not to mention Adblock which is the main reason many Neo players are switching to FF.

I too use firefox, and it's undeniably superior over IE in everyway EXCEPT, as neopets addict pointed out, it doesn't automatically move the mouse over the 'ok' button when you're restocking, and that can slow you down. So for restocking maybe stick to IE but for everything else, firefox is the way to go.

The jump to thing doesn't effect me, as I find it easier to just hit enter when I use sites.
What else doesn't work?

pls.......someone answer me can i block the banner?and how to do it.....
I think you need to download the Adblock extension, you can get it here.
Once it's installed, there should be a little "adblock" tab under all the flash banners. Just click that to block them.
BTW, I use FF as much as possible. It works a lot better for me.
I like the tabs, and adblocking capabilities. The fact that some stuff on Neo doesn't work as well is just a minor annoyance.

Gone, forever.

Hehe, that's another of the minor but suprisingly annoying disadvantages of Firefox. Even if you press enter it takes some time to respond, unlike the "jump to" function which responds almost instantaneously. Just switch to IE when you are restocking (but then you'll have to scroll more).

Or if you aren't into restocking, then it won't be an issue
Amazing what one can come up with when one is given a cardboard box and a roll of duct-tape!

Like Lord Nword said, Neggsweeper doesn't work properly. Lots of the CSS code in lookups doesn't display properly (esp. blinkies).
But that's about it. Minor annoyances

The only thing that bugs me about Firefox is that it doesn't display alt text on pictures (like if you hover over items in a shop, the alt text describing them won't come up). I found an extension that makes them work, though; it's here.

Cool! When I first started using FF, I missed the little text, but I'm used to it now. But it is nice to see the description of the item.
Thanks!
