A Christmas tradition of my is Christmas calendars! I recieved mine two days ago and I am already loving it. It's a tradition in my family, getting a Christmas calendar and opening one box each day to reveal a nice tasty chocolate.

What are some of yours?

SaphEdit: Slight title edit =P

Well, our family is a bit different. Depending on the year and what has happened during that year we do something a bit different.

If it's been a normal year, we usually do normal advent calendars. My family is all Christian and I'm Pagan, so we do it a little bit differently. I use every day from the 21st to the 22nd or 23rd (Whenever solstice is) and put up a new decoration or make a new preparation for my celebration.

If it's been a bad year (IE a death in the family) we'll have gifts (small ones) that we open one package every day. This helps us get through the holidays. :)

Usually I go to my grandparents house to celebrate Christmas with them, opening gifts early in the morning. Then my grandmother hosts Christmas for her side of the family (which is HUGE) and it's at her house, so the entire house is filled with people and tables FULL of food. It's a lot of fun, even though it's the only time I see most of them during the year. Then we have this game where everyone puts in one present, and we do "Present steal" where you can choose a present, but watch out, cause someone can steal it (Up to twice, then it's yours if you have it!) and then you have to either take a new one or steal someone else's. It's a TON of fun. :) And that's my Christmas.

<STOWA|Sleep> my sister questioned the title. "Half Blooded Prince? Does that mean he's a Moogle"

I remember seeing an advent calendar in a shop when I was little, and I wanted it sooo bad, but mum wouldn't buy it for me.

The closest thing to that that we do, is what we do with our stockings. We have our festivities on Christmas Eve, which is when we give presents to eachother, and then the little kids get more presents from Santa in the morning ;P
Anyway, my aunt hosts the party, and she puts together a stocking for each person, and each stocking has the same number of small wrapped gifts in it. We have to play a game to open the gifts. We use the questions from the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? board game, because the game itself is boring and confusing, so we just use the question cards.
My aunt reads the questions to us each in turn, and if we get the question right, we get to unwrap one thing, if we get it wrong, we have to wait until our next turn.
Whoever gets everything in their stocking unwrapped first gets taken to my aunt's room, where the grand prizes are layed out on the bed (enough for everyone, though some are much cooler than others) and picks a prize. And then the second person to get everything unwrapped gets to pick second, and so on.
We didn't play last year, because half the family had the flu, so everyone just unwrapped everything at the same time. But the year before last, I won, the prize I chose was a bundle containing, six individual sized bottles of Sprite, and a bunch of candy and gum and snacks wrapped up with it. That got me through the new year =P
My sister was last, because she was trying to talk on the phone to her boyfriend and wouldn't pay attention.

I always get my Daughter one, got her a Shrek one with the countdown to New Years, all though we don't celebrate New Years she likes the extra chocolate. I've always been meaning to buy myself one too because she makes eating the chocolate everymorning too good.

My Christmas tradition is...umm...celebrating Channukah, because I'm Jewish and don't celebrate Christmas.

Well, I used to get those advent calendars, but then..well, now, the chocolate simply tastes kinda cheap>.< haha. Besides, my grandmother sends a biiig parcel full of traditional desserts from Germany, and we eat those, every day instead.

We also open our presents on Christmas Eve, which is the german tradition, and open our stockings on Christmas Day^_^. I like it this way XD teehee.

Then, of course, we have the advent candles. I love them. Four of them in a special holder, with leaves (evergreen) decorating the base. First advent, light one, second, light two, etc. THen we have the santa candle extinguisher from my cousin in Germany, hehe. Lots of fun^__^.

And, as I'm sure many people's houses are, ours is decorated to the max, with christmas decorations^^*. Not santas or reindeer, though. We have lots of Jesus figures of when he was an infant, the three kings, some angels in a choir, and yeah. I think many are from Germany, haha, as usual XD, though I've seen some where I live.

I always love this time of year, because everyone is in the spirit of giving, and since I'm Christian, it's the best time to remember Jesus, cus it's his birth^_^ heh.

When I was little (before I was 10) my dad would read The Polar Express to us every Christmas Eve. Man I loved that book... I should read it on Christmas Eve for old time's sake :P
