 Post subject: CD drive help please

It doesnt seem to turn on. I dont want to restore, as that will wipe out several programs i have. Any ideas? Restarting doesnt help.

Yesh shir you may wanna pop the trunk off your pc and have yourshelf a gander at the internal workingsh of the pc. There could be a problem with one of the wiresh. Failing that, buy a new cd drive, they arent spensive.

go tooooo device manager and remove w/e drive windows has installed for it...reboot your comp and let windows detect your cd rom drive...if it still doesnt work then google up the cd-rom's manufacturerrr and get a driver update

More to the point, when you go to device manager, see what the error is that shows up for that device.

Worst-case scenario is that you have to buy a new CD-Rom, but this is the chance to replace it with that CDRW you've always wanted.

If you somehow knocked the power wire out of the drive (!!!), it would neither show up in task manager or turn on. That's rather unlikely, though.
