No. And I don't see the big need for one anyway. CD players are at least one hundred dollars cheaper and I think they're more convenient anyway.

I had one, and after four months the hard drive failed. This was right around Christmas. Thankfully it was still under warranty, meaning that Apple could replace it for me free of charge. I received the new one today. I'm happy to have a brand spankin' new one without all the scratches I gave my other one. I covered my new one in my sleek black case RIGHT AWAY. (It's an evo2...yes a $30 case but it is SO worth it)

I have a mp3 player, but not an Ipod.

No, I would like one though. I can't transfer any songs onto the MP3 player I have right now :(

Sooooooo many people got iPods for Christmas!

Oh man, I just bought a 40gig one for 300$ CANADIAN (I saved over 200$!!!) and it's being used as a permanent collection for my CD collection (ripped almost 100 cds to computer) and as an external harddrive for whatever tv show I'm watching at the moment.

I would NEVER buy it wholesale, but my friend won a 40gig at work and already owned one, so sold me the extra for 300$.

It is a VERY handy tool. Since it's a dual mp3 player/external hard drive for me it is much smaller than I could ever imagine. The quality is FABULOUS. So those people who claim a mp3 player worth less than 100$ is JUST AS GOOD really can't tell the difference in sound fidelity. I've had several, no thanks kids. It's much more efficient than a cd player and takes up less space and weight than carrying over 50 cds on a trip or what not.

so therefore. A+ (only when you get it discounted or whatnot, B+ otherwise)

The better question is what the hell you would be buying that would cost $800 . Mine cost me $375 at most, with the carrying case included. It's a 20 gig version, and has a 5000 song capacity. I like having all my music at my fingertips, so i can listen to anything i am in the mood for.

It weighs less than 7 ounces (under half a pound) and is ony slightly bigger than a deck of cards. The touch sensitive scroll wheel is pretty neat, along with the fact that you can use it as an alarm clock and you can play games on it as well (brick attack, parachute, music quiz, and solitaire). The battery life is suitable for me, i havent re-charged it in probably four days or so. When you think of a 10 hour battery life, you have to realise that you more than likely won't be using it for ten hours straight. Along with the 18 month battery life issue, it also depends on how often you use it. A Lithium Ion battery is good for 300-500 re-charge cycles (full drain to full charge)

Q: Is the iPod's battery user-replaceable?

A1: Yes and no. The iPod's case is not designed to be opened, so, in that respect, it's not what would generally be referred to as "user-replaceable". But, the case can be opened, and there are several third parties that offer replacement batteries for the iPod for as low as $30

The battery degradation is the same as you would eventually experience with any lithium ion battery used in any laptop, cell phone, portable music player, etc., and is not unique to the iPod. There are now also external battery packs that you could use if you were to, say, go on a 17 hour flight and you expected to listen to your music the entire way.

Overall, i am very satisfied with my iPod, and besides, it has my name engraved on the back ;)

I got mine about 3 months ago for free from the Link Blocked site. :) I take it to the gym every day, and it's SO much nicer than having to take a skipping CD, plus I can fit a lot more on it. ^_^ I replaced the earbuds with actual Headphones though. I hate earbuds so much lol.

Yep I have an ipod mini. I considered the bigger ipods but I love the look of the mini and I havent even used half of my 4 gigs yet! Mine is blue and I loveeeeeeeeeee it. It goes everywhere with me...school...appointments..gym I mean everywhere

Wed Jan 12, 2005 2:41 pm

Nope, and since I really don't know that much about them, I don't think I need one. :P Or maybe I do and I haven't realized it yet. :o Nah...

Wed Jan 12, 2005 2:56 pm

No, but I want one if someone else gives me.

Thu Jan 13, 2005 1:41 am

I've never actually tried one, but I've heard nothing but good things. I want one!

Fri Jan 14, 2005 2:28 am

Although I was originally skeptical about them, I got one for Christmas and frankly, it's awesome. It's a 40GB one, and it's about 45% full or so. What I like is how you can use it dually as a hard disk, which I used as a backup drive when my computer was reformatted. And it has Solitaire with it. What else could you ask for? :P
