And erm, what does it matter whether they just want them because of anime? It wouldn't 'corrupt' Neopets. If a person likes a pet because it reminds them of anime, so be it. That's like you saying they're shouldn't be faerie pets because everyone would get them just because they are cute.
Besides, (despite the fact that I love anime) I wouldn't associate samurai's with it. I associate samurai's with something more along the lines of some sort of awesome kick-butt warrior with a sword. ^.^ Or in this case, it would be a kick-butt Neopet with a sword.

Just because YOU all like anime, doesn't mean I like anime. Go ahead, respect it, worship it, watch it, enjoy it. But don't force it upon me or get mad at me for disliking something that I am perfectly well able and allowed to dislike!
I could go into a larger rant, about why I dislike it, but i'll spare you that.
I've watched my fair share of anime as well, and not just those cartoons on TV, the long movies. I even own one. ONE, so don't just say that I have no idea of what I speak.
I'd prefer to see them finish off with other paintbrushes before making others.
And yes, thankyou Skullsplitter, that is what I meant.

The Canadian Norse wasnt "bugging" anime, if indeed one can "bug" a genre of storytelling... she was saying that the main reason people want "ninjitsu" shindigs is because they have seen them in anime or visited realultimatepower at some point

No, dear, the point is that thingy up there had a go at ahoteinrun for "bugging" on anime, which she wasnt. Which unintelligent people do. I'm not suggesting that they do actually have a low IQ of course!, but that is something a careless / low IQ person would do. So, lets all calm down and NOT click on any of the links skullsplitter posts.
And yes, I am sure that the majority of non-stereotypical western anime fans
would have made the connection between your name and your approval, to say the least, of anime

Chinies is, unfortunately, how people will say it, or very close. TV certainly doesn't distinguish too well.

Hmmm.. I hate to say it, while I am an anime fan, I'd rather not see a Samuri paintbrush, kind of for the same reason that I wouldn't want to see a G.I. Paintbrush. Dunno, but it seems wrong somehow.

A long long time ago, when the world was young (well... early 2003) there was a rather large thread here in the General Neopets board. Someone had suggested an "Oriental Paintbrush" the main idea, was a Draik depicted as a traditional Chinese dragon. The thread eventually led into debates over the political correctness of the term "Oriental" as well as discussions of a Neo-world lending itself toward Asian culture. People concluded just what 1lewysgal said, and that it would be exploting Asian culture. However, it was also included that some of the existing Neo-worlds seemed to exploit one culture or another. The thread went in tons of circles.
I do know one thing. I wouldn't mind seeing more Asian influenced items, such as food and weaponry. I would love to see wonton soup as an item, and a katana as a weapon.

Ya, and that's how someone'd spell it if they didn't know how it was spelled and had to guess.
And it's not like that either Chinies would be a mishearing of something. And if you still have a problem with someone mishearing, the I will take offense, being hearing impaired myself. So with that. Just drop it...
ON topic stuff? I still maintain that Samurai are too area specific to be a color. They should work on equalizing the number of colors each pet can have. I.E. getting every pet up to where the Aishas are, at about 45 colors last time i checked...
