But if they want to be rock or metal you have to have some fight about a current issue or something other than love, the only people that can talk about love was the 80's hair metal bands. You must have fight in your lyrics other than love, then it's sappy and crap. And you must forget about poetry, it doesn't matter, if your gonna be a metaler forget poetry.

I disagree with you.

Metal bands can talk about love and poetry if they want. There isn't one way to do a music genre (If that made any sense). Any metal can write poetry in their songs if they want, you can metal out of poetry.

I agree with Ammer. I personally don't find much good in songs that say soemething like 'I hate you, cus you're so mean' or something, rather than something that actually means something deeper. Then, that's just my opinion.

I havn't found a good one that as, only one was Rammstein but they speak German (which I love) and are usaly bizzare.

That's right. YOU haven't found a Metal band like that which appeals to you whereas others may have.

Metal can be emotional/about love songs if it wants. Just because you don't like music like that doesn't give you the right to say Metal bands shouldn't sound like that.

Besides, if all of them were the same... man, Metal bands would be...well, rather boring for lots of people. Gotta have diversity XD. So sure, there can be some that aren't poetic, for those who like the blunt version, (and no, I'm not saying it's bad) and then there can be some that have poetic lyrics, or perhaps rap incorporated...or whatever they can come up with^_^

I pride myself in being a hypocrite and a poser anyway (my name on a forum I used to go to was "Poser Faerie" and my set was an edited Faerie doll from Neopets, dressed in punk clothes).
I can dress prep one day, goth the next, punk the next, hippie the next, athletic the next. Whatever, they're just clothes.
I listen to Linkin Park, and I also listen to Nirvana. I listen to Metallica, and I also listen to Madonna. I listen to Evanescence, and I also listen to Eminem. I listen to Green Day, and I also listen to Britney Spears.
I refuse to bind myself to one thing. It's my music, I pay for it, and if I want to listen to every genre, I will. They're my clothes, I buy them, and if I want to pretend to be something I'm not, I should be allowed to. Because I really don't care what anyone else thinks about me.
There are so many sides to me, why should I have to bind myself to one style of anything? Conforming to one thing would be totally going against what I stand for, which is being true to myself.
So I'm being true to myself by posing. How odd. But it makes sense.

So yes, I listen to Linkin Park because I love the songs. I love the lyrics, I love the sound of the music. I love the style. I love Chester's voice. I love Mike's voice. I love everything about them. And that is why I listen to them. And I'm not going to stop because some people think they have no talent. Or that they're totally clichéd.

What I listen to is nobody's business but my own. Which is why I choose to totally ignore it when people put them down.

*claps* same!

I listen to Linkin Park, but I also listen to 2pac. I listen to Kanye West, but I also listen to Beethoven, Grieg, Dvorjak, and classcal music. But then, I also listen to afrocelt, as well as the beatles, the BGs, and U2.

Yep, Got a nice big variety there. But hey, variety is the spice of life^_^

A huh. I own Meteora, and I personally agree. I used to like 'em a bit better.

I really can't stand linkin park.

The singer's voice... nasal... so nasal....

I can't stand it... It's all so annoying and repetitive.

Yes... Very much so

I like "Numb" and "Breaking the Habit". Have you seen the music video to "Breaking the Habit"? It's very well drawn, and has an adolesent yet childish touch to it.
