In regards to the User Browsing one -- If it ain't broke, don't fix it :)

Personally, I haven't seen that many people post only in the P&P -- and that forum gets, on average, a new thread a day, if that.

In my experience, the only time PPT's been really slow has been when either a) Neopets is down for a significant amount of time, which has only happened a couple of times in the last year, and b) when there's a new puzzle released on Neopets, and people are swamping to PPT to try and solve it. Again, that's quite rare.

Gone, forever.

Meh. But the thing about the modification suggested for User Browsing, you're in no risk of braking something by applying it. It's guaranteed that you'll fix the small problem if you apply it, that members do not always show up in viewforum listed in it as always, which it should. And I doubt you could apply a modification like this wrong, unless you're high while you're applying it or something similar in that nature. ^^;

What's P&P? Am I missing something? o.o

You mean the site. I'm giving suggestions for the forum only. The speed modifications would optimize speed for the forum only. Yes, yes, yes, this forum hardly, if ever, runs slowly, but I don't see the problem with optimizing the speed as much as possible without sacrificing, as I've said in my previous post, and eXtreme Styles is a 1 minute install that would make it so that less strain is made on the server, the forum is sped up, and the administration gets a very elaborate menu for the templates.

Actually, I was referring to the fact that it's a minor detail. I don't think many people care whether or not they're listed :)

Of course, this is just the opinion of a member, not one of the staff.

It's not really about the risks of breaking something- I'm not exactly speaking for the administration here, but in general we like to keep things the way they are unless it's absolutely necessary to add something. We really don't need a "tricked-out" forum, regardless of whether it's an easy-to-install thing or not.

As for 24, basically what Inrun and Alex said. P&P refers to the Promotions & Plugging board, which is where all site plugs belong. Others posted elsewhere are removed, so there really isn't a problem there.

Well, those speed modifications aren't about "tricking out" the forum. Just making optimizations and adding efficiency to the forum. I know it's absolutely not necessary, but neither is the gender modification, nor the centering of the username, rank, and avatar, which takes modification, even if it's not an official one. And the gender modification deductes from speed, if I'm correct, because it executes additional queries. The online/offline/hidden thing isn't necessary, either. You can find out if someone's online by just looking in the Who is Online section in the index. And the modification for that requires MUCH more edits than all of the modifications I've suggested.

I understand about your arguement towards #24, though. Are members who don't post pruned? If so, then I understand. But if not, many of them may have their site's url linked in the profile, and this forum would be used to boost its rating in the major search engines. Because the bots for those search engines spider this forum and pick up those links and display them in search results.

Note: I believe that double post protection is quite a nifty feature. It greys out the button as to prevent it being clicked multiple times and having the post submitted numerous times. It's happened on this forum many times, as it has on almost all phpbb forums.

To be honest, I don't see many double posts on this forum.
And i'd like you to go find a few, to show me where they are...

Most members figure out they've double posted, or they just forget to edit. And then Mods do, what Mods are supposed to do, and put the posts back together. No big deal.
This hack seems... *shrugs* like an excess. We don't need it.
And we don't need personal quotes.

I've seen most of the double posts in General Chat and NNV. Yes, it's generally new posters, but I've seen many repeat offenders...some posting all the way up to 4 times in a row. *shrugs* Just my opinion on something that would be handy to add. It's one that's been added to my own forum, and just makes things easier.

We have moderators to fix things like double posts.
It's not that hard to do.
And if it happens we deal with it quickly.
To me it's not a needed mod/hack.

*shrugs*
The staff here do a fine job on their own, let us do that job.

inrun. I'm not saying that you're not doing a good job, don't take it as a personal attack. It was a suggestion. Sorry for trying to make the forums better. -_-

I don't know how you read what I said, but I in no way took it as a personal attack.
I'm just saying, it's unneeded. We have mods, mods take care of double posts, simple as that. It's not a big deal to us, but it's easy to do. It's not like pressing an (x) in the corner of a post is very hard work.
