I just watched it last night. It's such an obvious Canadian Drama haha I love it. Not up there with Degrassi though.
In a certain CTV fashion, both
Degrassi and
Instant Star are produced by the queen bee of teen dramas in Canada, Linda Schuyler, she has a great eye for developing plot lines which can happen, but she also manages to smash them all together to make it seem everything that could potentially happen to a teenager happens all at once. Hopefully this wont be the case with Instant Star(not to say I don't have a rant about that too!)
Thus far, Instant Star doesn't have me overtly impressed, in fact, I feel that the characters are too..concievable. The jealous childhood friend? The amazing new guy, the confused main character and her angry sister? Granted, it's only the first two episodes, but I'm already finding it repetitive. Especially the jealousy that her best friend is causing, I think it's a workable plot, but they need to develop more characters, it would allow things to slow down, exploring Jude's life before winning, and comparing to afterwards. How things change with everyone, not just the one guy and two girls who sent out those posters.
I have faith in CTV, they've turned things around before, I suppose I just seem to be having a bit of trouble adjusting
to this new guitar.
(haha, get it? "Im in love with my guitar"?)
