I have no idea if most of you are aware of this, but I figured I'd share it with y'all.

Anyway, two nights ago, Melbourne had the worst storm in over a century. We had over a month's worth of rain in under 24 hours -- it's the first time this has happened since they started recording the weather in the 1800s.

Pretty much every suburb in Melbourne flooded to some degree... our backyard had about 20cm of water, and the river around our town was up at least 2-3 metres -- the adventure playground, which is about 2 metres above from the creek, was about a metre under water O.o There was only one bridge in/out of our town open (out of about 5 normally).

The really odd thing is that it's meant to be 30 degrees on Monday. We had swimming today, and it alternated between pouring down and being really hot. Only in Melbourne... 4 seasons in a day.

Anyway, a picture my friend sent me... along with another to 'compare'.

Luna park: Pre-flooding; Yesterday
One of the highways: Clicky
Dandenong Creek: Clicky again -- Keep in mind that this is usually flowing in an underground tunnel, under the footbridge. Where the footbridge is, I don't know.

There's more pictures here, if you're interested.

Gone, forever.

I've been hearing about this on the News and from other people I know online. In fact before the flooding actually started when it was just heavy rain I told someone to consider themselves lucky because its hot over here - I feel a bit guilty about that now  Anyways, I do hope you and everyone else over there is fine and safe. I would send you some dry sunshine if I could!

The really odd thing is it started pouring today when we had swimming. 30 minutes later, the sun was out, I changed into my skirt, and got sunburnt. About an hour later, it was raining again.

Only in Melbourne ;P

My mom's country, Guyana, is freakin' flooded. In one year 1 KM within the sea coast will be flooded, my mom's old house is screwed.
