Exactly what I was going to ask. As long as you remember that we burnt down your white house and sent you crawling back to your mamas in 1812, we should be okay. :D

That was the British and you know it! My history book says so!

Yesiree, the second the South starts making the metamorphosis into a guerilla encampment, I am OFF to Cancun!

I think we're okay though. Titor said it would fire up late 2004 and 2005, but so far it's been uneventful.

Trying to predict the end times by the Bible is difficult, because the Book of Revelations is practically all symbolism (the Beast of Babylon, the ten-headed dragon with seven crowns, etc.). But the nice thing about it is, if the Bible's true, we'd still have seven fun-filled years after all the "believers" vanish to get our butts in line!

Technically, although we beat the americans, they weren't crawling back, and we didn't gain any land or anything, since it was almost a tie between us. But that's ok :)

1. A prophet predicted that the Pope we have now will be one of the last, if not the last.

That one I've actually read about, though I can't recall which saint was supposedly speaking through which Christian mystic in the Middle Ages. Suffice to say that (since I counted from the then-current pope when the book I read about it was published to John Paul II) we are not on our last pope. We could be on our next-to-the-last one, if you accept that the mystic channeling the saint listed every single pope to come. Oh yeah -- and if you ignore the fact that this was obviously part of the booming medieval trade in bogus miracles, relics, and artifacts.

There have been secretive people and societies throughout the history of the world. It hasn't caused the world to end yet, there's no reason it should now.

3. . . . Some guy predicted the Trade Centre tradgedy about 1000 years before it happended.

No, he didn't.

4. Technology is on a massive upswing. . . .The more progress we make, the less privacy we have, the more open we are to attack.

Growth of technology/progress does not necessarily mean loss of privacy (though certainly, some technology -- and the way it is employed -- can affect privacy), and neither technology/progress nor lack of privacy requires the world to end.

5. Any internet-savvy person, or conspirator, would have heard of John Titor. Whether it's true or not, no one can guarantee.

I can. I guarantee it isn't true.

6. This is relating to point five. JT claimed that civil war broke out because the government was taking away too many of the peoples' freedom. This is already happenening due to the fear of terrorist attacks. He claimed that in 2005 it would reach such a state that civil war will break out. Maybe the dates are wrong, but freedoms are being taken way slowly. And it WILL reach a point in time when the people will have enough.

Well, if the dates are wrong that pretty clearly disproves the tales of this particular "prophet"/"time-traveler." ("Prophets" like Nostradamus gain their rep not only by not letting themselves be tied down to dates, but by being so vague that their predictions can be applied after the fact to all sorts of things that eventually occur.)

I'll disagree that freedoms are being taken away slowly -- it seems rather rapid to me, at least in the U.S. under Bush. But this, too, has occured throughout history. The pendulum swings one way, then the other. Doesn't mean it'll be a civil war, though. (Remember the McCarthy Era? Me either. But it happened, & the country got over it, and we're still here.)

7. The biggest thing to look out for is the uniting of Middle-Eastern countires. That was what a prophet said would be one of the most noticable signs. A lot of prophets state that a lot of bad things will happen before the Apocalypse comes to pass.

Even if "a" prophet said something, so what? What "prophets" say really doesn't matter. And for as long as lots of prophets have been saying that a lot of bad things will happen before the Apocolypse, a lot of people have been saying that that proved that theirs was the end-time. Guess what? They were always wrong.

Always.

I honestly don't think anything or anyone for that matter can predict when the world is going to end. When it happens, it'll happen. It'll most likely be a normal day, with nothing weird happening and BOOM, we're all dead.

And if the Mayans are right (Which I highly doubt), I'll give you a nickel.

Hmm, doomsday. I honestly don't think any of the current things happening in the world are an indication of the world ending (although the tsunami followed by the unusually heavy rains in California freaked me out for a day or two since I had just rented The Day After Tommorrow, but I'm over it
now).

I think people are becoming more aware of how vulnerable human life is and some people who felt quite safe before are now feeling a little nervous, but I don't think that means the end is coming.

And to whoever it was that said they might start drafting girls into the army (I'm to lazy to double check and find out who it was), I actually got a phone call from an army sargent two days ago who wanted to talk to me about joining the army and the college benifits I'd get and so on, so I think they are definitely trying to encourage young people, of both genders, to consider volenteering for the military.

I don't actually believe that the world's going to end on December 21st, 2012. I was being sarcastic, hence the whole bit about my alien buddies and my spaceship.

(Chris, I wouldn't dream of not bringing NF. And yes Ali, you can come =D)

Meh. Instead of worrying now, just enjoy it to the fullest. if anyone watched Paycheck, you should know how dangerous it is to see the future. It takes away our freedom. So if the wolrd really does end, let it be blamed on "prophets" who told us whats to come and that we are dead soon.

I was actually debating whether you were being sarcastic or not. But obviously you can see the choice I took.

This topic, I am sorry to say, made me grin, then groan. The end of the world is not something I actively think about. If it is going to happen, whoop-dee-doo. There's not much I can do about it. But somehow I find the entire world being destroyed or all the people on it dying just a tiny bit far-fetched. And how on Earth would anyone be able to predict that? I know that people can see into the future (it's happened to me) but it's when you're brain jumps ahead in time and shows you what you will see or hear. I highly doubt that it is possible to predict the end of the world if it happens many many years after you die.

I think all this talk is pretty meaningless.

Actually, all that is needed for the "end times" to start (according to the Bible) has happened but there are tons of predictions about that end times that haven't been fullfilled because the "end times" haven't started yet. And actually, the last prediction that came true was Israel becoming a nation again.

Now that I think about it, it didn't say technology, it said "knowledge". Same difference ("same difference" is really dum if you think about it).

I'm gonna have to do some fact-checking on that one. I'm having a difficult time believing we allowed our capitol to go up in flames twice.
