Hey, it'll be fine. I've switched schools a bunch too, and I still keep in contact with close friends from a few years ago.
I'm sure you'll make plenty of new friends too. I just would try not to worry about anything too much.

I'm sure you will make new ones.

Aww, it's understandable to be depressed, because you're going to lose contact with a lot of people you care about. I don't mean you won't talk at all, but once you switch schools it's different and you talk about different things so it becomes a little distant. On the bright side, the people you keep in contact with most are your true friends. I have a friend who left to go to another country about eight years ago and we are still very close.
Do be proud! You're going to a gifted program, which, although you might not like losing old friends, you make new ones as well. I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot. The people there may have the same situation as yourself, having to leave old friends to go to new places. It's not fun, but you'll be in the same boat as a lot of other people. ^_^

I've moved schools 4 or 5 times. It's hard at first, but just try and talk to a lot of people and you'll quickly make friends. I'm a shy person when first meeting others, and now I have a great group of friends.
And just think - you might not be the only new one there, others may be going through the same thing as you.

I just cry so much. i feel so stupid, i cry at memories, and i'm gonna see my friends again i guess tho.

Same with me... But everyone thought I was an insensitive jerk on the last day of grade five (I'm going into grade six next year) because I was probably the only one who didn't cry. I had been to that school for SEVEN years, (Preschool for 2 years, Kindergarten, Skip grade 1 go to grade 2, grade 3, grade 4, grade five, GONE!!!) and I'm glad to be leaving. I can reinvent myself and be nicer next year. And in my old school, equality was very important. They discarded intelligence. In my new school, they'll recognize intelligence. BAH!!! AM I TALKING ABOUT MYSELF AGAIN???
You can keep in touch, and remember that you might have better friends than you did before. Still, it might even be more fun to not go to school with your friends. Going to school with them causes a lot more fights to brake out, because of competition and such.
Edit: Wh00t! I'm going to a gifted program too.

Wow! I'm going into grade 7 next year. I think you and I might be the youngest here. I dunno though.

It didn't seem that bad because I knew I was going to stay in touch with them. The only reason I'm going to another school is because I'm going into a gifted program. Don't worry, Crystal Cloud, you'll meet new people and make new friends. Your old friends won't be forgotten unless you let yourself.
I hope you feel better soon.
*hugs*
Over time, you'll see if they really were your friends or not. I found out that 3 quarters of the people I believed to be my friends weren't "true friends", and that does hurt on the inside. I can empathise.
I'm going to a gifted program aswell! I had to leave my other school 3 years ago, and I found out that all my friends badmouthed me as soon as i left, and they never kept in contact, I was really sad to find that out. I've been to 4 or 5 different schools before, but this was the one i was most attached to. I had the most friends, had the best experiences, it's just so heartbreaking for me.

But thanks everyone! I feel a bit better, except Kristina kinda scared me,

.
Four or five schools, that's hard.

Don't worry, I feel for you. I've been to about 6 schools over the years and am quite aware of the pain you're going through. Don't worry, we're all here for you!
