I'll periodically get bursts of a copper/aluminum taste in my mouth, but I usually just attribute that to adrenaline (which, I've read, does indeed taste like copper). I have no idea if that's what it is, or if I'm just strange.

And if ye don't mind me asking, what was the "Biaxin Incident"...O.o

When I took Biaxin (for sinusitis) and went crazy and ended up calling 911 because I thought I had a brain tumor. "Going crazy" is one of the rarer side effects of the drug, but that didn't stop me from getting it.

:roflol: :roflol: :roflol: Is that true?

Why yes, it was a funny story actually (funny until we got the ambulance bill that is...). In a nutshell, I was prescribed Biaxin to treat my sinus infection. After a couple days of taking it, I started feeling dizzy, lightheaded, giddy, delirious, started forgetting things, etc. This progressed until I started having weird thoughts like I was the most intelligent person in the universe and I could predict the future (fortunately, I was home alone, so nobody saw any of this). This was all the Biaxin talking of course. But I thought my forgetfulness was due to a brain tumor, so I called 911.

This is kind of a suppressed memory, lol. The emergency medic dudes came piling into my tiny little apartment, and I (dressed in my pajamas in front of four grown men, yeah definitely a suppressed memory) explained my situation to them all crazy-style. They were clearly skeptical, I think they thought I was on drugs. Since they didn't buy it, I asked them to leave, saying it was a mistake, but they said they couldn't; it was against their policy or whatever. They HAD to hook EVERYONE up to the stretcher and haul em away (I think this was their way of putting an end to prank 911 calls). So they strapped me to a stretcher and off I went.

To add insult to injury, on the ambulance they gave me a breathing mask for no good reason (I think this is another one of their ways of stopping pranksters). When I got there, they asked me a whole bunch of questions, clearly not buying anything I said. I got a little irritated and snapped at them a few times. The funniest thing was when I told them my last name, and they thought it was a joke. My last name DOES sound very weird and almost pornographic, so I can kinda understand, but it was still frustrating. The other funny thing that happened was I accidently gave one of the medic dudes the wrong phone number (I meant to give him the one to call my brother), and he got in touch with one of my brother's cop-hating friends who got into a heated argument with the medic over the phone.

I ended up getting hooked up to an IV (turns out I was dehydrated, go fig) while my parents came to pick me up. Yeah...funny story.

...I wish I had Biaxin XD

Jeebus, Chrome! I have the SAME EXACT SICKNESS right now. That's so strange. I had a temp of 102.5 last night. The fever broke this morning, but I keep coughing like a winded elephant.

Yay, someone to whine with! Yeah...February's supposedly the biggest flu month. Are you able to eat anything? All I've eaten in a period of five days are two bowls of cereal, half a burrito, and a couple cups of soup broth. I'm gonna try and force-feed myself today.

I hope you and Fidds both get well soon. It must be horrible to have the flu. (Don't remember having flu; just colds. Or maybe I did, or maybe that was the fake doctor's note. Ahem.)

Actually, no "must be"s, it "is".

Drink lots and lots of warm fluids, water best. I never knew if it was true or not that you "wash out" your bacteria, but it can't be bad to drink plenty of water anyway.

Over the past four days I've had a bowl of tortillini soup, two spoonfuls of chicken and stars soup, one grain of rice (I kid you not, ran like an Olympic athlete in to the john and ralphed all over after I swallowed it), roughly 10 gallons of ginger ale (mostly offered up in a sacrificial rite to the porcelain god), and a piece of bread.

*gags* I can't believe you choked down a burrito. I feel queasy just imagining it.

Yeah, I may never eat a burrito again. It tasted nasty. Damn you, dysgeusia! You make good things taste bad.

Anyway, I'm back to school and almost well, except for the coughing fits and the dysgeusia. That virus obviously isn't going down without a fight.

Lol your med story reminds me of the time my sister took Sudafed…yeah shes one of those rare people that can’t take it. My bro ate the last waffle and she started screaming ‘I want waffles’ like a banshee and kicking the fridge. It was great…mind you she was 15.

My husband and son had the flu about a week and a half ago. Hubby complained about the nasty taste...don’t think he brushed his teeth so much in his entire life. Kept giving me this eyes half opened, high fever, can’t breathe right look which I know he couldn’t help, but he looked like a lost puppy and I was really tempted to kick him.

.....wow.

My family had everything. My brother got the flu w/ 105 temp. Other brother got strep. I got stomach bug. Ironically, my mom the trauma nurse didn't get sick. O_o
