Hollister, Aeropostale, and AEO I can deal with. When I was in the Boy Scouts, actually, I was a big fan of AEO because they great best hiking socks. This was 10 years ago, mind you, so they hadn't been totally swept up in the prep revolution.

Then a couple of years ago, I bought two shirts from American Eagle and laundered them according to the instructions. When I pulled them out, they'd bled so badly it looked like a blind donkey had tried to tie-dye them with house paint. I got my money back, and there were no problems with the clerks, but I'm not a big fan of the store anymore. I guess you're not shopping there for quality; you're there for the brand. So if they're overpriced, then it's just a matter of shelling out cash for the name.

That said, I thoroughly despise A&F. This was once a very reputable company - did you know that they were Teddy Roosevelt's preferred outfitter when he went on safari? That they used to sell the best steamer trunks and pith helmets money could buy?

Now they actively discriminate against minorities in hiring and promotions, order their employees not to offer to help customers (I once asked why, and was told that if I needed help, I should be in a "tard store" - I assume what the clerk meant is that Abercrombie wasn't my type of clothing, which is actually a pretty good assesment), and use partial nudity in their catalogs. They're the lowest common denominator, IMO.

Abercrombie? Not for me. The other stores are fine.

^^ I'll agree with you on A&F. The last time I was in there it scared me.

I've never shopped in Hollister before, but I like some stuff from AE. I have a hard time fitting pants from there though. And it's mostly too expensive. And not really my style.

It's a smart duck....watch it do math..........o.0

A&F is way too expensive, although I do have a jacket from there. Hollister, I've never tried. American Eagle is alright, but I rarely find anything I like in there.

I prefer Forever 21 to any of those.

Gosh Abercrombie is so dark and imtimidating! I'm not old enough to wear the clothes there yet but when I walk past it it seems so dark and these posters of weird people in their clothes. It seems so fancy and the salesclerck wears like a suit which is pretty scary to me. Oh also it is soo pricey! I saw through the window the ugliest thing i ahve ever seen in my life. It was a grey knit sweater with a horible colorful design that looked like puke. It was 40 dollars! :o

Hollister: no. A&F: NO, NEVER. Aeropostale: Sure, its cheap enough. AEO: Sometimes, if they have things I like. I usually just buy pants/shorts from there.

Hollister seems to...perky for me. Aeropostale is extremely bright (or atleast their store is), but they have nice looking shirts tha go for about $5-20, which I can afford. American Eagle overall has really nice pants/shorts, I own about 3-4 pairs from them alone. Gap has awesome ones too but $50 for a pair of jeans I can get at Khols/Wal-Mart for $10 isn't in my price range.

Now, for A&F. I've heard rumors that it was racist, and their was this controversial thing I think Kim posted about one of their clothing lines that many people protested because of it's use of racial slurs and religious entities with a satyrical manner. I went in thier once, no one paid attention to me, I looked around, looked at the price tags, walked out in a span of 2 minutes. I am in agreement with you shapu on this matter.

I don't really care what the clothes "represent" as I can wear whatever I want, how I want, and with whatever I want. If I want to wear my pair of worn-out converse with the brightest, most highlighted thing in my closet, I can. If I want to wear dusty jeans and the top part of a tuxedo, I can. But I won't because then it would get dirty for no reason. :P

I like AE, but I'm cheap. I've never bought anything from there, but I have bought AE stuff from Value City, Marshall's, and the like.

Aeropostle, however, is my friend. I love their socks, and everything is cheap. (I got a nice purse there for $3.50 once.)

Other than that, I don't even go into any of the other stores mentioned.

I've never shopped in Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, or American Eagle, so I naturally wouldn't know.

You mean Abercrombie & Filth? I wouldn't spit on those people if they were dying of thirst. They sold "catalogues" of their clothing that were practically pornography. They also released T-Shirts that contained racial stereotypes and charicatures of Asians in rice picker hats with slanty eyes, advertising laundromat services and basically stereotyping poor Asian immigrant families. Many of them also refuse to hire minorities to work in their stores, and many also refuse service to people they don't deem "worthy" of shopping there.

Needless to say, I don't shop there. Ever.

Yep. We are. But there's still <i>Boys Base</i>. It's probably quite the same as A&F in price ranges.

A suit? Which Abercrombie have you been in? heh All the ones I go to they wear their clothes. And only their clothes. That's all they are allowed to wear.

And at least around here, I've seen Asian and black people working at Abercrombie and Hollister (which is owned by Abercrombie) so I really have no problem in that department.

Boys Base? Never heard of it.

Do you guys have Topshop by any chance? <3 I adore it even though I like more rocky, personalised clothes.

With t he exception of maybe American Eagle once in a while, I hate them with a passion. :) I don't think an explanation is necessary.

We used to. When I was like 7. It closed down, though.

I hate them all. Everything is so overpriced, and it would appear that they think all teenage girls are tiny. Also, I read something VERY disturbing about Hollister, but we don't want me to preach, now do we? -_-

I'll take West 49, World of Trout and Tiki Room over them any day.
