That's instinct. Humans don't instinctly go out and kill people or animals.

Which is totally incorrect. Humans are just animals. Animals kill each other and other species. Unless of course, you're denying that we're are actually animals.

Even if we have superior power over animals now. Instinct maybe be weakened, but it still exists.

A prime example is spur-of-the-moment self defense. That's primarily bought on by instinct. If an animal which was generally my size (not a dog or something) attacked me, if I had the means to do it, my first though would be to injury the animal then kill it, or kill it straight away.

Humans don't instinctly farm, either.

Xerai also brought up some good points.

Don't be afraid to see the truth, even if no one wants you to. Be yourself and not a fool. Don't ever be afraid to speak your mind and listen to criticism. Dissent is keeps our country progressive and willingness to challenge yourself is what keeps yourself ever evolving.

I eat meat and I would never even think of becoming vegetarian. First of all, I don't really care about eating animals, and second, I like meat so why would I give it up? Even if I don't buy the meat from the supermarket its still going to be put on the shelves at a constant rate each day because other people still buy it anyway. I've seen the 'meat locker' where I work and there is always a good bit of meat back there.

And I don't know who mentioned the thing about preaching just cause you're vegetarian, but that IS what you are doing, and it is different from non-vegetarians talking about meat, because meat eating is the normal thing, there isnt a whole lot of people that need to be talked into doing it now is there?

Oh, and I'd rather kill an animal than a human, heck...I've seen my friends shoot deer when they were hunting.

Frankie. A year ago, if I said to someone (which I often did), "Hey, do you know what that jello is made of?" it would be just to gross them out and ruin their appetite. (And, fair enough, in some cases, to get the jello for myself.) Now, however, I could say the exact same thing but I'd be accused of trying to make that person become vegetarian, even if I just wanted to see if they'd continue to eat it. I don't care if someone chooses to eat meat. As I've already said, that's their decision. However, I dislike the fact that I can say the exact same thing as a meat-eater, and it can be taken so differently, even when I'm saying it for the same reason as the meat-eater is.

Didn't you once say something along the lines of 'ew, I don't eat corpses'?

To someone I was trying to get rid of? I would never say it to some random person or anything like that, only to people who know I'm not seriously criticizing their choice of eating choices. It was to a friend who I was annoyed with and trying to get to shut up.

But there have been times when I have thought about not eating meat. Than something like my dad cooking tri-tip and the smell makes me SOOOOOOOOOO hungry. I hate the thought of never being able to eat a Medium Rare steak.... -drools- Or Baby Back ribs. :)

Still, you must be careful of the way you represent yourself :)

Cassi, just take comfort in the fact that if someone tells you that "you have such and such a problem because you don't eat meat" that they're preaching too.

Point taken. =)

Kyra: fair enough, but the problem is, they don't see it as preaching, they see themselves as "normal".

((Sorry, that sounds like a really bad generalization, but I'm referring to people trying to make me eat meat, not all meat eaters.))

I love meat, so that's a definite no.
