I'll really miss her! Does anyone have any way to deal with this kind of situation? I can't believe she's going as soon as her house sells. I'm hoping it won't, but it probably will. It's going to be so strange without her around... :(

I'm sorry for you, but it doesn't mean the end of your relashionship. I have been talking to a group of 4-5 people on neo everyday for the last few month a few hours aday. We've never seen each other. But we all are very close. You can keep in touch.

Ya, i'm leaving all my friends to go to another school, even though they're not that far away, but you can always keep in touch.

Call each other on the phone, email each other....Just keep in touch. :) You're friendship won't end if you keep talking to each other. Try and visit your friend if you can too.

Just keep in touch through emails or good olde fashionede letters.

I have almost the exact same problem. But my best friend is (definitely) moving to Virginia. We plan to keep in touch using AIM, the telephone and neomail. And maybe some hand-written letters, too.

I feel your pain. There's the undeniably fact that you might never see someone you care about ever again. And you always want to keep a sliver of hope that they won't move. But if they do, you need to remember the good times you guys had together, not the (probably tear streaked) good-bye moments.

Hey, I live in BC, Canada (Victoria) :). It's really beautiful here.

Recently I've had a friend move back to Japan. Another one of my friend will be moving back to Korea very soon, and another one back to Japan next January :(.

It's quite sad, but there's always e-mail.

Yeah, my friend moved far away once too. I wasn't too sad, because it only took half an hour to get there, and there's always e-mail (or at the time, Neomail =P). Of course, my situation is different, because she actually moved back to where she lived before (the same area). But I still feel your pain. *pat pat* There's always phones and e-mail, so at least you won't be losing touch forever!

Make plans to keep in contact, find out if she is ever coming back to visit and when or if you can go there to visit her. I understand that's not possible for most people. Send emails regularly and letters and packaged presents for special events like birthdays and Christmas (if you celebrate that).

It will take a while to adjust but you should be able to adapt quite quickly. On average, I have a good friend leave per year so I've got loads of overseas contacts now! In fact, I have a friend in BC, Canada right now. :)

One of my best friends moved to Sydney a couple of years ago.

Like the others said, stay in contact. Use a few differnent things - IM programs, email, phone, letters - whatever works. And if you get the chance, try and visit each other on the holidays, even if it is only for a few days.

Gone, forever.

(just admiring you beautiful set Alex. ^_^ )

I suppose...I find long-distance relationships hard. Out of the five friends that left school last year, I keep in touch with two. *shrugs* I have no regrets really, we have different lives, and we didn't feel that keeping in touch like that had a purpose.
