Yep, my band (or half of it, anyway) is going on a trip to Toronto during the first week of May. We're all practicing our accents, learning the national anthem, and generally doing silly stuff in preparation for the trip. However, though we'll be getting a list of what to pack (which only tells you the obvious items to bring, like toothbrushes and clothes) I want you guys to give me some help.

I already know that I'll need the basic stuff that you bring with you anywtime you travel. I know that's I'll need some kind of identification for crossing the border, just in case they decide to check a busload of people (it's unlikely though). I've been told that I don't need any Canadian money once I'm over the border, but I have a bit of change just in case.

What I want to know is what the weather is usually like up there in May and anything else I should probably bring.

Living in Toronto, I can probably help, haha. Weather in May usually really nice, it'll be 20-30 C, with some rain, but mostly getting hotter.

What festival are you going to? The Canada's Wonderland one?

So 20-30ºC is pretty much 68-86ºF.

Heh...I'm clarinet and bassoon. I'll probably only play the bassoon though, unless I can get someone to accompany me on it.

EDIT: Thanks for the conversions, Yoshi! So, I should probably mainly pack jeans and only a pair or two of shorts then, along with some t-shirts and a jacket.

For ID, I suggest a passport, and if you have it a learners permit or drivers liscence; if not birth certificate. You need some form of photo ID now adays if you're over the age of 16 (i'm not sure you are, so i'm just tossing that in), but yeah.

Why won't you need Canadian money over the border? I'm kinda... confused by that statement.

I would bring a few sweaters or heavy shirts just in case. Our weather is pretty unpredicatable.

I wouldn't worry about the locals. The band's travelling in a large group, and I can turn any large, blunt object into a weapon.

You can't use USD in Canada, it's not legal. Not to mention, you'd be losing out on money, considering the Canadian dollar is still lower then the American.

30 degrees in May, I'm not so sure. Your probably looking at highs of 25. As for what to bring, well clothing wise you will want t-shirts, shorts, a sweater or two and a pair or two of jeans or pants. If you plan on doing any of the rides at wonderland(The Bat is awsome, Tomb Rader looks cool but isn't worth the wait) bring some money unless your band is paying for stuff like that. But food is expensive, like all theme parks

One major thing is beavers. In Toronto the beaver problem is very bad, and you won't want to be caught wearing green. Beavers tend to get aggitated by people in green clothing and will attack. Last year there were 46 beaver attacks from May-July(prime beaver season.) The most important thing to do if a beaver is attacking is to curl up into the fetal possition and protect your face. Mounties patrol Toronto's streets looking out for beaver attacks, so if you are in the fetal position you should be able to stay safe long enough for a Mountie to find you.

I'm 16 as well, and I had to get my passport to cross the border last summer. Ironically, I had most trouble getting back into Canada then out hehe..

You might be able to get by with just a regular ID, but passports almost never fail.
