Ankha is a world very much like our own. In fact, some would say its is an 'alternate' version of our world. However there are some things about Ankha which define it as different and unique, and a few main points regarding it and its inhabitants must be noted.
Ankha's culture and technology is almost identical to our own, apart from one major difference. Magical forces are present and accepted by the Ankhan people. It governs their existence and powers their technology. However, just as people in our world are good at certain things and bad at others, not all Ankhans can use magic. Some have great powers and can wield it with ease, while others haven't even the tiniest sliver of magic within them.
Ankhan physiology is also different to our own. Ankhan's are humanoid, and very similar in appearance. However their ears are long and taper to a point sideways. Ankhans are also born with natural 'tattoos'. Each Ankhan person has unique patterns and positions of their tattoos, and these tattoos stay with them from birth to death.
Ankhans also differ from our people, in that they address people with their surname before their given name. ((NOTE: You’ll need to remember that.))

Ankhans who possess strong magical powers are often taught from a young age. They are taken to temples by their parents and learn to harness their magical ability for the good of their country. Those who become very powerful often become Priests or Priestesses who journey the land and help those in need. Some with extraordinary talents may even become High Priests or Priestesses. These people may lead the temples and may even join the Council of Mages and represent their country or city.
During the past few centuries however, people with magical ability have become fewer. Countries and cities are fighting to possess the greatest mages and priests, who have become like objects to be won at the end of a battle. People all over Ankha are become sick without the healing abilities of the priests, and the fiend populations are growing without mages to fight them. The Council of Mages has begun to study the Ancient Texts to see if there is anything which can save Ankha from its bleak future.

The Council of Mages soon came upon an Ancient Text regarding a type of mage called a Geomancer. The Geomancers were mages who appeared to have no magical talent whatsoever. However, once they were recognised and trained, could use certain items, mainly staves, wands or bells, to call upon the forces of nature from the very land they were standing on and implement this as magic. The only way one could tell if a person had the potential to be a Geomancer, was if he, or she, had a tattoo of an Ankh on their left wrist.
The Ankh was an Ancient Symbol recognised by all Ankhans. For the Ankh was said to have been a powerful weapon wielded by the Goddess Alea when fighting alongside her sister, the Goddess Gaia, against the evil spirits who hoped to devour and destroy their two daughters, Terra and Ankha. Once Alea had one the battle, she gave the Ankh to her daughter Ankha. This enraged her sister Gaia, who Alea had promised would be given the Ankh once the battle was won. Gaia was so angry she destroyed the Ankh, splitting it into 23 pieces and embedding these pieces within Ankha. Alea was so angry by what Gaia had done, so she used her remaining powers to send Gaia and her daughter Terra away from her and her daughter forever.
The Geomancers formed a ‘guild’ of sorts, dedicated to finding new Geomancers and teaching the art of Geomancy to them. The Geomancers guild also had a hidden purpose. To find the missing pieces of the Ankh and restore it to its true form. The Geomancers managed to obtain some of the missing pieces, which they claimed came in the form of precious stones with magical properties. However, once the Ancient Council of Mages discovered the true intentions of the guild, which were considered blasphemous at the time, they sent their most powerful mages to destroy all the texts the Geomancers had created… and to kill the Geomancers themselves.

Almost a century has passed since the Council of Mages read that Ancient Text and decided to restart the Geomancers Guild with the same intentions as the previous guild. Many people do not know about the guild. However it has become a law all throughout Ankha that any child who is born with the symbol of Ankh on his or her left wrist, must be given up to the authorities.
Ankha is still in disarray, the many countries still fighting for mages and priests. The Council of Mages has become the official government, enforcing their laws using a large group of people known as the Ankhan Militia. The Geomancers Guild has since been forgotten by the Council. However it still receives people, and still trains them to become Geomancers. Fewer and fewer people are being giving to the Guild however, and the High Priest of the Guild fears that even the ‘supply’ of Geomancers will run out, leaving Ankha with few people with any magical ability at all.

High Priest Orol Khimar entered the Great Hall and was immediately approached by a young woman holding an object wrapped in brown paper. His brow crinkled in confusion, “Who are you miss? And what are you doing here?”
The woman looked at him passively for a moment, her face then lit up in a smile and she bowed in greeting, “Greetings Orol Khimar, High Priest of the Geomancers Guild. I am Lunetta Talim and I come with important news.”
The High Priest frowned for a moment, this woman had a strange aura around her.. a very powerful aura. Without speaking, he reached down and grabbed her left wrist, twisting it up to reveal an Ankh. She smiled at him, “I know you’re probably wondering why I was not sent to you as a child. That is because the Ankh only appeared on my wrist a few days ago….”
The old man interrupted her angrily, “What nonsense are you spouting child? It is impossible for a tattoo to appear like that.”
The woman stopped, frowning at the man, “Only those of us who are destined to become High Geomancers shall have their tattoos appear in such a manner. And our tattoos may only appear once our true powers awaken. That is the doing of the Goddess Alea, who speaks to you through me. For I am destined to be the High Geomancer of the Moon, voice of the Goddess and speaker of the Prophecies.”
The High Priest was staring at her now in disbelief, he opened his mouth to speak but was silenced when the woman held up the wrapped object. Tugging lightly at the string which tied it, the brown paper fell away to reveal a Moonstone. Before the man could speak, the woman turned her hand over, allowing the stone to fall to hard wooden floor and shatter into many pieces.
The man gasped as the pieces began glowing before moving towards each other and joining to become a whole stone once more. The woman leant down and picked the stone up, she stood up again and placed the stone in his hands. “A gift, from the Goddess, as proof that what I say is true.”
The High Priest’s hands trembled as he held another piece, the fifth piece, of the Ankh. He was about to speak when the woman’s eyes changed colour from a deep blue to a glowing silver.
The woman stepped forward, staring at him without blinking, “There shall be twelve, including she whom I speak through. They will represent the forces of nature- Fire, Wind, Stone, Electricity, Waves, Ice, Ivy, Mist, Sand, the Sun, the Moon and the Night. Some will come, others will need to be found, use the Moon’s power to call them all. Together they will heal my daughter and her people, and together they will rebuild my Ankh and unite the people with my daughter once more.”
