I got to looking at the Gallery of Heroes image of the Space Faerie, and I decided I wanted to try and colour it. I'd never coloured a sketch like that before, so I thought I'd give it a go and see how it turned out. And it turned out rather well:

Click >here< for the original image.

At first I thought it'd be a lot harder than it ended up being, because of all of that glowy magic stuff around her. But I managed ok.

I showed it to Alex as soon as she finished it, and she was all like "Her hands are white..." so I had to explain that it was just the silvery blue magic glowly stuff glowing around her hands. I did that by putting it on a seperate layer and lowering the opacity. So I thought I'd clarify it up front before anyone wondered.

Also, I know I didn't colour her exactly how the already coloured images of her on the site would be. I did that on purpose, I wanted her coloured my way.

That's beautiful! It looks like you colored it with colored pencils rather than a computer. The magic stuff at her hands looks wonderful. Nice job! *thumbs up*

Ooh. It's pretty. :D See all the pretty presents? They can be yours if you vote for me. Yet, none of you know me. T_T How sad. There's no way to get the pretty presents then. :(

Thanks guys.

The hardest part was the stuff around her hands, but once I figured out what to do to make it look right, it was easy.

I did it in PaintShop Pro 7. Using the lasso tool to select individual areas, and the colour to target retouch tool to colour.
