Post riddles here, or try to figure some out!
Here are some, which I know the answer to...(PM me if you really want to know!)
If you pass the person in second place during a race, then what place are you in?
How much smoke does an electric train create?
How much dirt is in a hole?
A man says to someone,"everything I say is a lie." Is he lying or telling the truth?
A woman has 7 children, half of them are boys. How can this be possible?
What goes in a toaster?

Ok, those are some riddles. All of which, except for the lying one, I got wrong... :lol:

A man sees a nice horse for sale, it costs 50 dollars.
So he takes out 50 dollars and buys the horse.
Later, someone sees his horse and offers him 60 dollars for it.
He sales the horse but then decides he wants it back.
He has to buy it back for 70 dollars.
The someone else sees the horse and offers him 80 dollars for it.
This is too good to pass up, so he sales the dog once again.
Has he made a 10 dollar profit or a 20 dollar profit?

We did this in class and about ten people said he made ten dollars and about four or five said he made 20 dollars. The teacher said it depended on if you counted his first 50 dollars into the equation or not.

I can't decide if it's 20 or 10 dollars... Aw. Darn!

Ok, here's another one:

Bob and Chris each wash a car. Bob washes the car in 8 minutes, and Chris washes it in 6 minutes. How much time would it take for them to both wash a car, together?

I have never figured this out. I asked my teacher, and she didn't know.

I will answer the above two which I don't think Trinity answered correctly.

The man is lying. That means while not everything he says is a lie, it does not necessarily mean he tells the truth all the time. Thus it will not be contradictory to say he is lying here.

All of the women's children are boys. Therefore if all of them are boys, half of them will be boys, quarter of them will be boys, 1/3 of them will still be boys. ;)

I have never figured this out. I asked my teacher, and she didn't know.

In one minute, bob can wash 1/8 of the car. In one minute, chirst can wash 1/6 of the car, thus in one minute, they can both wash 1/8+1/6=5/24ths of the car. Hence in 4 minutes they can wash 20/24th of the car, and in 4/5ths on an extra minute they can wash all the car. Thus it takes 4 and 4/5ths minutes, or 4 minutes 48 seconds for them to wash the car.

he starts with no horse and ends with no horse
over time he spends 120(50+70) dollars and gets 140(60+80) dollars.
If you think its a ten dollar profit, i'll give you 15 bucks for profit :P

He is lieing. Everything he says could be the truth or could be a lie. The currently statment is a lie-he could then say "the sky is blue" and tell the truth.

Yeah, that is the correct way to solve it. What grade are you in, pattypus? I can hardly believe any qualified Maths teacher won't know the answer to that question.

I'm in grade 6...
I'm younger than most people here, and my teacher is a teacher that teaches all subjects. She's not smart, actually, when you think of it. She says chocolate milk is really the blood of cows. ANYways...
Ya. I'm in grade 6, 12 years old. :)

Oooh, I have one!

The person who makes it doesn't want it;
The person who buys it doesn't use it;
The person who uses it doesn't see it;
What is it?
