Does anyone here other than me know DOS? It's pretty cool. I am recently learning to use it for .bat stuff. I can help DOS newbies out. Though I have only had about a month with it, I am a natural.

Saying you know DOS is like saying you know water (substitute noun). DOS isn't a language, its an operating system. i'll assume you mean you know DOS syntax.

DOS (IMO) is utter crap once you have experience with linux and its shell (i.e. i keep pressing {TAB} for auto complete). Batch files do come in handy though when mapping for Call of Duty.

I grew up on DOS. I remember my first computer had DOS and windows 3.11 on it. when i turned on the comp all i need to type was 'games' and a really neat menu that my dad programmed (w/ fancy colors) would appear and show all the games *ahh the good ol' days*

Since these are no longer temporary forums, I will update my signature.

i remember those days, only thing dos is really used for is to delete files that windows won't let you when in windows or like me for running scandisk once in awhile or for others "scanreg" to backup and restore system files other then that dos isn't used for much of anything, btw did you ever play a game called galactix? hah i loved that game :D

My first PC could only run MS-DOS 3.1 or earlier. It only had 2 5.25" floppy disk drives, no hard disk, and 640K of RAM. So, yeah, I used to use DOS a lot. Can't remember much about it now though. Have you ever used CP/M?

I know a desent amount about DOS, batch files, Telnet and the such. I once sent a batch file that repeatedly opened notepad in an eternal loop. I told her it was a game I made.....Heheheheh. Her dad thought it was a virus. Don't do that though, cause now she hates me.

Heh, I've seen someone pull that "Open a bazillion files" gag before. My first computer experience was with DOS, using it in school. I kinda miss it in a way... ah well.

Go bash shell, go!

Jokes aside, DOS is a good way to get started, and a good sandbox and provides valuable experience to when you want to step up to a real language.

Heh, DOS is only a good sandbox if your don't use the del, deltree or format commands. THOSE are a way to wreck up your computer!

I think I can beat the lot of you, I still have an original copy of Windows 1, which only had a dos box window with a menu.
Total size is 64k as it had to fully load in the memory
