I caught something earlier today, but I waited a few hours until I reeled in again.

I think waiting a few hours before reeling in will let you get multiple items per day.

Second time I got some kelp and a 'level up'. The pets must be really bored doing this...

I think that may be it. I kept trying two of my pets over and over again, and couldn't go a second time, but I only tried my third pet after a few hours and he got to go again.

Every time you click the button, it resets the clock and you have to wait that much longer until you catch a fish. If you click too often, you'll never catch a fish. (At least that's my theory.)

I suggest casting, waiting about 3 hours, then reeling in.

Weird, I caught something again (Rotten Left Sandal) with my second pet. I'd been trying repeatedly with my first pet, tried a few times with my second pet, and completely left my third and fourth pets alone until this time. So I have no idea what the pattern is.

You have to keep that page open the whole time? That's odd. Even with the Wheel of Monotony you can come back and finish it.

WoM? I can't... even if the page freezes and I refresh it freaks out and stops.

Did anyone else get a level up on they're first try?

And what's this about waiting? How long?

Oh, yeah. Three out of my four pets got a level up the first try.

On the page where it says "Reel in your line", I leave it there for 3 hours or so.

I've gotten to the 3rd skill level so far.

Waiting at least 3 hours sounds like a good possibility. From my own experience I know the necessary wait is more than 1 hour but less than 6.

Unless, of course, it's a random wait-length required each time. Would you put it past TNT to do that?

It's been about seven hours since I last successfully caught something, and I just tried with all four of my pets and was told I should "be more patient." They're all currently at skill level 2. I have no idea what the time limit is.

Also, I doubt leaving the fishing page open for a long period of time does anything... can anyone confirm that?

i don't think leaving the page open matters at all. one of my pets is a level three without doing that.

i have a feeling that the time length between allowed refreshes is completely random.
